This was a great tea. I love Chai Tea but this had a little different spice and a level of smoothness that was different. I was sad to see it was limited, I would love to see this again.

My chiro mentioned that she likes this tea with steamed coconut milk, so I thought I’d give it a try. They gave me two tea bags so it was kinda spicy. No syrup so not a latte and already sweet from the coconut. A good way to get my healthy fats!
It was a bit too potent so I added some shakes of vanilla and cocoa, which seemed to tone things down. Overall, I enjoyed it. Would go better with almond milk, I’ll try that next time.
Sadly, not a chai I’d keep in my cupboard as it relied heavily on the cardamom. I prefer a more balanced spice blend. I hear Second Cup has dairy alternatives besides soy now. So many versions to try…

Do you know what brand of coconut milk they use?

Indigobloom

Hmmm I didn’t notice. They were working behind the counter. I’ll ask next time

Evol Ving Ness

I ask because some brands are loaded with sugar.

Indigobloom

Oh I know! I hate that. Though with a chai I do find that I need some sweetener and since I didn’t add sugar myself or have syrup, in this case I don’t mind

Evol Ving Ness

London Fog latte is my dirty sugar secret. :)

Indigobloom

I have a lot of secrets haha :P
Dirty chai is my most recent one

hmm, what’s dirty chai?

In a cafe, it’s a chai latte with a shot of espresso. Making it myself, I just add an inch or so off regular ol’ coffee to the mug, and milk/cream. But then I decided to experiment and added it to Christmas Morning from Stash, and it goes surprisingly well!! Today I did it with a Ceylon.

This is SO weak in flavor. Such a disappointing chai.

I was out running around with a friend and she wanted to hit Starbucks. Guess its been a while since the only teas they had last time I was there was Tazo.

I got this tea for something warm and spicy and hopefully not too bad. I was surprised as it was enjoyable.

Chai can be a bit of a hit or miss with me. While I enjoy clove, it too easily dominates, and I despise it when clove dominates. I could barely taste the clove in here. I adore cinnamon, but I couldn’t taste any in here at all.

The flavor I could taste is difficult for me to nail down. Possibly the cardamom. I’ve never had it in anything where it wasn’t dominated by another flavor. If this is indeed what I was tasting, I do enjoy the flavor.

I didn’t realize until looking this up that this is a black/rooibos blend. I normally have trouble with rooibos since it always have a medicinal flavor to it However, this tea, as well as another, I do not get that flavor from the rooibos.

Anyway, if I ever end up going back to Starbucks wanting something hot to drink, I will likely get it again. But its not something I would go out of my way for.

Brews up really sweet! A little cinnamon but not a spicy kick. Really good!

Second steep is alright too.

Was steeply discounted at Teavana, so I gave it a go. Will not do so again. By itself, the ‘spiciness’ is overwhelmingly sharp and yet very flat, without any depth of toasted spice flavor or smoothness of rooibos or black tea that I would hope backs such a chai. On the second attempt, I mixed with Red Label black chai grounds as a backing, treating the Oprah Chai like a tea masala. Still no good, too pointy a flavor palette.

I really wanted to love this. It tasted like cinnamon stick with some other indescribable flavor. Very potent and overwhelming. Maybe if I bought and played with it I could get it to work for me but that is just too much “extra”. I need it to work with little effort. I ordered it from Teavana and my first impression was that I didn’t like it. I was so glad that I didn’t let the impulse bug get me and order it online based on the Youtube reviews and go to the store and buy a cup prepared first. It isn’t awful and I think some people who like bold spice may love it, just not me.

This is one of my absolute favourite teas. I am a huge chai lover, so it is no surprise. It is so, so good as a latte. It is a pricey tea, but, fortunately, Teavana had multiple 50% off sales around Christmas and I definitely took advantage on that. I have a lot of stock on hand, in case it is discontinued on short notice. I do think that it is a tea that you either love or hate. I can definitely see how some people would not enjoy it. But I love it! It is my go-to tea and I dread the day that it is discontinued.

One of the worst chai teas that I’ve had. There was way too much cinnamon and was very poorly balanced. Also, the price is quite high for a chai tea of this quality. The aroma was pleasing, even after brewing. It smelled like it should taste better than it did. Overall, I don’t recommend it.

I think that many on Steepster felt the same way about this tea. What were they thinking!

I feel like the version you get from Teavana differs a bit from the Starbucks version. The one at Starbucks I agree is way too overpowered by cinnamon, but the one I picked up at Teavana is so smooth and delicious. http://twilightlotusthoughts.blogspot.com/2015/08/tea-tea-bars-are-g-rated.html
