This rare and exclusive loose leaf Maocha tea is harvested from a centuries old tea plantation in the village of Ban Po Lao Zhi high up on Nannuo mountain.
A well known tea producing village, Ban Po Lao Zhai holds the distinction of having the greatest number of 400 year old tea trees on the mountain, and is renowned the world over for its top quality tea products farmed and harvested in the traditional manner.
Raw fermented, this spring tea from the 2011 harvest is picked from a large 400 year old arbour tree and is composed of a picking ratio of one bud for every two leaves.
Upon brewing, the tea releases a rich and heady wild honey aroma and produces an extremely thick tea with a sweet Nannuo taste and very little bitterness or astringency. It possesses a very strong Chaqui taste that envelops the senses of the nose, mouth, throat and stomach.
This tea can be infused at least ten times, and does not require straining or filtering. Brew in a Gaiwan by pouring water around the edge to avoid burning the tender tea buds, and use hot but not boiling water of around 92- 95 degrees Celsius or 190 degrees Fahrenheit. Brew for around ten seconds for the first few infusions, increasing to fifteen seconds for later infusions.
