“This tea is very interesting. It’s smoky like a gunpowder green tea, but smoother, with just a hint of pleasant bitterness. I just read that they use Chinese plants in India for this tea, so that...” Read full tasting note
Kangra District is an historic tea-growing region in the Himalayan foothills of NW India. It has been well-known for over a century for its China bushes and green teas, much exported to the Middle East. After a long recession favoring India’s more popular tea regions, Kangra is making a quiet comeback. Teas from the Wah estate are hand rolled and pan fried giving them a distinct taste, when compared with other teas produced in the region. The flavor is deep, rich, smoky, but not astringent, so you can still taste the fresh, bright vegetal flavor. Makes for a perfect afternoon tea with a good book.
