Description

Steamed green tea from Japan, Gyokuro is among the finest of Japanese teas. Special growing conditions under bamboo leaves provide a sweet and delicious cup. This makes the tea grow more slowly, taking time to develop depth and flavour. The sun-deprived leaves are higher in chlorophyll, which creates the vivid green color in the leaves. They’re also higher in amino acids, most notably L-theanine, which account for the perfectly smooth, rich and soft flavour of Gyokuro. It has a stronger flavour than Sencha, but also smoother and less bitter.

My own experience:
This Gyokuro from Teastory is truly strong, but not in bad way. Just I can’t drink this tea before go to bed – 5 hours before at least. The Gyokuro has really smooth taste, smells like mountain meadow, the brew is nicely lightly green and usually I use same once steeped tea leaves next days again. Sometimes three time at all. It hadn’t no effect on change the taste – of course I left the steeped tea in covered strainer in fridge over night but maximum 8-10 hours.

What is your opinion on repeating the brewing of good quality tea?
