About this Tea
Grown in the foothills of the Himalayas in Northern India, Marybong is a garden in the Chamong Group – producers of some of the best organic Darjeeling teas in the region. First flush begins in Late March and lasts for about 30 – 45 days where each bush is plucked of its new growth every 7 days. Teas produced during this period are light in body, slightly greenish with subtle nuances nuts, flowers and peaches.

Storm TeaI guess this first flush Darjeeling is technically cheating, since it is a blend of both first and second flush leaves. That said, I wanted to try it anyway. I was at Smith HQ with my mother (which seems to be the recurring pattern), and noticed it was one of the black teas I didn’t remember trying. Why that is, I know not; for it possessed a character that was surely memorable. Like other Marybong offerings I tried, it was strong in it’s “jalapeno”-spicy notes and floral lean. I prefer my blacks on the light side, and this certainly was. Time went by so fast, I didn’t realize I was finished ’til I poured drips out of the pot. A habit-forming Darjeeling.
