“I was asked for an unusual, but good, green iced tea blend for this changing autumn and I put this together for a sample. Cold brewed, the clean and rich earthy profile is deeper and the toasted...” Read full tasting note
Dry Aroma: Toasted, carmalized popcorn, earthy, oceanic
Wet Aroma: Deep toasted note, sweet corn, autumn hay
Appearance: Broad, bright green leaves, sandy-hued puffed rice, tightly rolled-dark, jade leaves
Cup: Bright sunflower yellow liqour, with slight flat-jade green luminence. Small degree of very fine particulate. Smooth, creamy mouth-feel with initial earthy, sweet flavor that vanishes elusively under the toasted, puffed rice overtone, and a rich, green oolong buttery finish. Well balanced and clean, yet flavorful enough to pair with strong Japanese miso, Thai curries, and Vietnamese Pho noodle bowls. Offers 2-3 extractions with the earthy, cream note becoming more pronounced and the toasted rice flavor gently fading. A good up for anyone who loves Genmaicha but finds the grassy or toasted notes of some blends to be overpowering.
