From Simpson & Vail

From the Wuyi Shan region in the Fujian Province of China comes this pine smoked black tea. China Lapsang Souchong is not for the faint of heart, you either like it, or you don’t! The large tealeaves are smoked by a unique pine process to produce an amber cup with a mellow smoky flavor.

This is not an official review for this tea.
More of an excuse to pop in to say hello and let you all know I am indeed alive.
We recently lost a friend suddenly.
He was 50 years old and died of a massive heart attack.
It has left us aghast, but he needs his crop harvested and other various jobs that he did, we have to take up the slack.
Anyway, I realized how busy we had really become (and sleep deprived) yesterday when, I had been drinking a large mug of this tea and it was 3/4 gone before I realized that apparently I had become distracted in the making process and added at least triple the amount needed for the one cup of tea I made for myself.
Probably my reaction would have been quite laughable if someone were there to see it.
It was rather bitter and strong at that percentage.
I cant believe I drank most of it before even noticing!
But, it did wake me up and I was able to rush about and finish what I needed too.
It was then that I decided that I should not be doing any tea reviews till I get some more sleep and my taste buds return:)
Take care, My Dear Steepsters!
I shall return soon, I hope.
(I broke down awhile ago and bought some Red Leaf Flavored Matcha, so I will be reviewing that soon I hope…stay tuned to see what flavor I bought;)

Mmmm, youngest and I wanted a pot of tea with geometry this morning. She said she was open to any lapsang, so I picked this one. This was a sample from Hesper June, who sent us a big care package of lots of kinds of Lapsang to try.

The dry tea had a rich smell of thick cut bacon, cooked to a turn, well done and crispy. The tea is smooth and sweet. I took no additions, daughter took hers with milk and sugar as usual, and we both enjoyed it!

Thank you, Hesper June!

Thanks to Hesper June for this one…

I guess like a lot of people I haven’t felt up to doing much with the terrible news today about the Sandy Hook Elementary School. I can only imagine how the poor parents of those children must feel. Indeed it is a sad day for our country.

I felt like hibernating tonight and decided to watch a documentary on Grigori Rasputin. Somehow this tea seemed like the perfect accompaniment; especially as it’s cold and dreary weather today.

This is a VERY strong lapsang and has a heavy BBQ type flavor. Definitely not for the faint of heart but pretty good on a chilly evening. Very strong pine/tobacco flavors. Is there any tea in here? lol… I prefer my lapsangs to be a touch on the milder side but perhaps I will try blending the remainder of this with something? I actually do like this but it is not an everyday drinker for me. Now back to Russian history and may God bless us all…

I’m much in prayer for the right words to say to my 10-year-olds at church tomorrow when they want to talk about it. A couple of friends have posted this idea (attributed to Mr. Rogers): “When something bad happens, look for the helpers. There are always people who will help.”

TeaBrat

I would have no idea what to say… I don’t have any kids. That’s a nice quote though…
