“Gongfu! The last couple years, I’ve slowly but quite steadily fallen more in love with sheng productions from Lincang such as this one. It’s actually a really great example of the qualities I’ve...” Read full tasting note
Xiang Zhu Qing is famous for their old tea trees in China. This particular tea comes from a tree estimated to be around 200 years old. The batch we have was made in 2007 and compressed in 2008. It has been stored in a dry environment for 15 years, resulting in a remarkable transformation.
The overall taste is fruity, with different individuals detecting various fruit notes. Some even describe it as having a mellow honey flavor. The cake itself appears brown and black, with an oily sheen.
The tea broth is a vibrant golden yellow, bright and clear, while also possessing a thick consistency. Initially, there is a subtle astringency in the first few infusions, which gradually fades in later infusions.
In our opinion, this tea is highly regarded by our tea fanatics and collectors in China.
