“Thank you to SandysCuppa for these samples. She gave me two Pu-erh mini cakes in a swap. I do not know which kind they are. One is wrapped in green and the other in a tan colour package. I...” Read full tasting note
So what is a Mini Pu-Erh tea cake anyway?
Mini Pu-Erh tea cakes are shaped from compressed black/brown tea. Pu-Erh has long been considered to have health benefits, from lowering high cholesterol to aiding indigestion.
When brewed, our selected Pu-Erh mini cakes produce a moderately roasted aroma that has earthy undertones. When tasted, Pu-Erh mini cake present themselves as mildly earthy with a smooth aftertaste. The longer they are aged, the better the tea.
How do you use them?
Use one cake at a time, gently unwrap the paper covering, place the chosen cake in your preferred mug or small pot and get ready to start enjoying the Aroma.
Place boiling water at approximately 200-212°F/95-100°C into your Mug. This is the best temperature for steeping. Use one Pu-Erh cake for every 1-1.5 cups (150-300ml) of water. Then Steep your cake for about 2-3 minutes or until the desired concentration is acquired.
These mini Pu-Erh tea cakes are made up of small hand shaped cakes made out of various brown/black tea. The aroma is quite strong with an earth-like taste. The tea itself can be as dark as coffee, even after steeping for just a few seconds. The taste of the tea is a great combination. Although the tea gives a strong and dark impression, the aftertaste is soft and gentle.
These mini cakes are only meant to be used once. So don’t waste that special occassion. Why not try out our cakes through one of our lovely Porcelain Peacock tea cup sets.
