This tea, along with two others were in the marked-down section at work, so I snatched them up right away. With my employee discount all three only came to $5. I have plenty of fruit tisanes which are good iced but that many that are meant to be drank hot. And right now it’s definitely edging into hot tea weather.

The cinnamon flavour is nice, and not overwhelming and there is a distinct fruity apple flavour, but the sweet, baked pastry part of the ‘apple crumble’ is missing. It’s too tart to really taste all that dessert-like although it has a nice autumn-y vibe that makes it pleasant to curl up with on a cold autumn evening.

Another GCTTB6 sample! Only two servings left in the baggy, I’m probably going to keep it and drink two pots of it over the next few days.

A warm spiced tisane on a very cold winter evening. It should be a perfect pairing, but I’m actually thinking this would be better iced. I did make sure I only steeped it for 2-3 minutes to curb the hibiscus’ sour, but there is still a bit more acidity than was warranted. I would have gone with more citrus and apple instead of rose hips and hibiscus.

The cinnamon is really good in this though. It doesn’t have any hint of sickly sweetness or artificial flavour. I don’t know if I’ve ever tasted cinnamon done so well; I am very impressed with Pluck.

I also like that they used green apple in this (granny smith variety), the flavour comes through really nicely.

GCTTB DAY 3

Had this one with dinner (which was actually more like breakfast for dinner) and it actually paired pretty well. I made some fried ham and eggs sunny side up with toast and avocado, and the tea complimented my meal quite nicely. Although I enjoyed the pairing, I can’t say the tea itself was impressive. I should have probably known better just from the description and ingredient list on the package, but it was too tart for my liking. Not only that, but I felt like that flavours of was unbalanced and I competition with each other. The tart apple pieces and hibiscus only managed to bring out more tartness and bitterness in each other, while the cinnamon was rather heaped onto it as if trying to cover up a huge mess. Honestly it wasn’t that bad, but that was the general impression I got. My first try of a Pluck tea, hopefully the other one I want to try (ice wine) will be more successful.

Revisiting this tea, I’m finding my initial observations are still ringing true. Tonight, I’m really tasting the cinnamon chips. I pulled this out because I was craving tart apple flavour but now that I’m getting that flavour, along with the cinnamon, it’s not that satisfying. I left it long enough that it went cold; and while it still wasn’t satisfying it was better that way.

In other news…

Anyone else really into Hamilton right now? After hearing enough friends praise it so highly, I took the time to introduce myself to it today. I’ve gone through the soundtrack once now, and am currently on my second listen through. Enjoying it a lot, so far. I totally understand why it’s cleaned up in regard to awards and award nominations. It’s truly unique…

absolutely looooooooooove hamilton, glad you gave it a try

Mookit

Interesting, I was just thinking about trying some of the Pluck teas from Indigo. Any suggestions on which teas are good? Or other brands they sell in Indigo like Tealish and Tea’s Sake?

@Mookit, this is the only tea from Pluck I’ve tried – but sometimes Indigo/Chapters carries Harney & Sons which is always a solid choice. Plus, I’ve heard good things about the Republic of Tea’s Iced Tea line up which I know the Chapters/Indigo in my town carries. Personally, if you have a DAVIDsTEA nearby I’d skip this one though; it’s basically Forever Nuts.
