Description

Tamaryokucha is a Japanese green tea. The leaves are first steamed, then rolled in a heated drum. The leaves form small balls known as “tama” in Japanese, hence the name Tama ryokucha, whichmeans green tea. This differentiates it from traditional senchas, which have folded leaves. This teawas developed in the 1930s to try to break into the North African market and compete withGunpowder. Although this tea is found in other regions today, like Shizuoka, Tamaryokucha originatesfrom the island of Kyushu in southern Japan.

Specificities:
Origin: Shizuoka, Japan

Dry leaves:
Appearance: attractive leaves rolled according to the Tamaryokucha method
