From Palais des Thés

A wonderfully successful combination of green tea and vanilla! Enlivened by small vanilla pods and delicately flavoured, this Sencha type tea is beautifully mild and smooth.

Backlog:

Yum! A really nice vanilla tea. Most of my vanilla flavored teas have been black tea bases, but I like the way the natural creamy tones of the green tea work with the sweet, creamy vanilla flavor.

A really pleasant, mellow cuppa. Light buttery tones, sweet vanilla, and the green tea has a hint of lima bean taste to it. It doesn’t sound like it should work, but it does, and does so splendidly. A really nice tea.

Recently I got myself a gift set from Le Palais des Thes and I was very excited when it arrived. It comes in a box with a full color book and aluminum tins of their different flavored teas. I was initially a little bit miffed after realizing I was only going to get two mugs of tea out of each sample, but that’s ok. I will definitely recycle or reuse these tins for something else, spices perhaps…

I don’t always like vanilla tea because the vanilla can get very artificial tasting but this is very nice and subtle. The green tea is a flavored sencha which I’m really enjoying. I might have steeped this a little long but it seems to be fine. It’s a very smooth taste with a bit of vegetal and also some lingering nuttiness. A bit of astringency in the finish as I was expecting. I don’t know if I will purchase a large size but it definitely is one of the nicer flavored greens I’ve tried. I like the fact that the flavoring is very mild & it blends well with the tea.

20 minutes later: this sencha is not sitting too well with my stomach, perhaps oversteeping was a bad idea. :(

i really like this simple tea. the green tea is vegetal and fresh and the vanilla is low key and cheery. i know it’s not blow-your-mind delicious or anything, but i’m very glad i got a chance to try it and that i have a good 3 more cups worth.

i just finished watching Bridesmaids. i’m glad i watched it. also if you haven’t heard Adam Scott on the podcast Doug Loves Movies do yourself the favor cuz then you’ll love him even more.

Sipdown, 169. Again, sending the rest of this one off in a swap!

So a while ago I had a weird time with some flavored green teas where they gave me an odd savory note. I discovered that it was my kettle that needed cleaning, but I think that was not the whole story. I think there is something about flavored senchas lately that are not sitting quite right with my taste buds. It’s been a while since my incident (and I had a cup of bilochun earlier that was fine), so I know the savory note I’m getting from this one is inherant. Of course, it is a super super mild note compared to my last experience, but it’s still there. I think I am starting to become not a fan of the base of most flavored senchas. Hmm. Anyway, the vanilla on this was light and creamy and pretty nice, it’s just the tea base I don’t find so awesome. I was never that excited by a green vanilla tea, though, so I am happy to send the rest of this one off to another home.

Literally a zombie right now.
Midterms are killing me. Three in one week? Really? Did all my professors get together to decide and make sure that I would have to take all the important midterms within two days of each other? Bleeehhh

Well thank you shmiracles for sending this tea my way! Looove vanilla so much! This tea definitely has vanilla in it and it makes me so so happy. The tea smells sweet and nice as it brews. Ohh is that a legit bit of a vanilla bean in this tea!? Tasting it, it’s nothing super special. Just a simple green tea with vanilla :) Reminds me a lot of Bilbo Brew, without all the cinnamon and sweet potato

A very grassy green tea, slightly bitter. I must try steeping this at a lower temperature. The vanilla was just right- not too overpowering, very natural. I added a little alfalfa honey half way through the cup and it helped make it slightly less bitter.

Twinings Vanilla Tea was probably my first encounter in the largest world of tea, and it had left a deep impression of me, only because of the context (a girl friend had then left a little note on the paper packaging and the smell had long accompanied me.
Today I tasted this flavoured sencha, and I don’t think much about it. It smells great, my memories will tell you, this mix of vanilla and sencha smells great. But i didn’t tasted much in mouth.
Maybe I didn’t brew it correctly, but I found a slight hint of vanilla in the second longer steeping, for the rest it was more like drinking regular sencha, nothing special about it. Still its intense flashy green was nice, I enjoyed taking some pictures in this sunny (almost warm) February afternoon.
Thanks Le Palais des Thés for their generous samples in each order parcel. i won’t buy more of this tea. i’ll taste the next one.

This is delicious. I LOVE vanilla. Pretty much all the perfume I own that smells phenomenal on me has a vanilla base. All of my favorite desserts, controversially, are vanilla based and not chocolate.

It makes this green tea super smooth and evening appropriate. Win.

I got this in the Paris Try the World box with a few other teas from this company. I had to do some steepster research to find out what was what and what to steep things ate because apparently the 4 years of french I had have completely left my brain.

So the dry leaves of this smell a lot like Butiki’s Creamy Eggnog. It tastes similar too, except a little toned down. I get the buttery and slight vanilla, but I was getting something very vegetal and unidentifiable from the green tea base. Then I read LiberTEAS’s review where she said it has a hint of lima bean. LIGHT BULB! yes… so very much lima bean. It’s so weird.

I had six years of french, but never had occasion to use it afterwards. Now I remember next to nothing…so sad

The tea that launched 10000 steepings. Seriously, this is the first tea I ever tasted by Les Palais des Thes, and once I bought a bag of this, I turned into an addict. The green tea underlying this is a sencha. Its pairing with small bourbon vanilla pods makes for a smooth intensely vanilla treat. Its also delicious iced. Don’t steep too hot, or else it’ll be bitter.
