Sipdown! (40 | 106)

Finished off this tagalong from my Nordqvist Moomin tea order a couple of years ago. I really like sea buckthorn flavored things, so this was a no-brainer. I’ve never actually had sea buckthorn (unsurprisingly, it’s not really a thing here), but the flavoring is quite distinct. It reminds me a bit of passion fruit, but with more of an almost stonefruity lean to it? It’s sweet and tangy and… golden. Maybe with a bit of raspberry in there as well. Raspberry passion fruit?

True to form, the sea buckthorn here is lovely. The Assam base isn’t my favorite, it’s a bit tannic and acidic without having any other redeeming qualities. But as long as I don’t steep it too long, still makes a serviceable base for the yummy sea buckthorn.

I had tea bag version of this tea bag and again I was disappointed. Sadly.

The base tea, they claim it’s Assam, okay, was quite bitter and astringent, brews very dark and opaque, not much pleasing.

Taste… well it was as I said bitter and astringent, sea buckthorn notes were there, but too weak unfortunately, little bit acidic from them maybe. But sadly, it wasn’t much to enjoy.

White Antlers

Even if some of your teas are not good, as a person in the US, I am enjoying the names of the teas and the names of the makers. Nordqvist. Sounds so bold!

White Antlers: This is Finnish company, which produces wonderful Moomin tea bags :) and tea bags in general which are very cute. And as I collect them, among experience from loose leaf, I always enjoy seeing this company.

Oh! Tove Jansson’s Moomins? How delightful! I guess sometimes you trade off decent tea for charming tea bags. lol
