Organic Breakfast

Ended up at a cafe today that I’ve never been to before and it was soo good, wish I knew about it sooner. I ordered this tea with my breakfast sandwich and it was my first time having Mighty Leaf tea.

I really liked the fancy tea bag and the little rope string and was impressed to see whole leaf tea in it. It brewed to a perfect dark shade in the mug. I added sugar in the raw and it was so delicious with my sandwich, tasting very brisk and robust! I didn’t even mind the ceylon taste to it, assuming it has ceylon.

Normally I don’t like to pair food with tea but I can tell that’s the only way I could enjoy this tea, and it reminded me how good that combination can actually be!

Today is my last day on this frozen ice block before going back to the coast. I’m sitting at a cafe near campus having a “holiday tea latte” made with this tea and some amaretto syrup. It was supposed to also have peppermint flavouring but they were out, but I was cool with that. Almonds and peppermint might have been odd anyway.

This is pretty good, but it’s hard to truly judge the tea since I’m distracted by all the milk and sugary almond flavouring.

This is the first tea that I found this morning in my big box of teabags that I’m trying to get through. I was hoping for smooth and malty, but it was a bit more robust than that. Still a good tea, but nothing amazing here. I would gladly accept a cup of this if offered, but I won’t seek out any to purchase on my own. I’m getting ready to go shopping with my mom and this morning and plan to put a super strong and delicious tea in my Timolino to enjoy while we’re out and about. Hopefully that will help me get through all of these errands that we have to run! I have so many things on my mind with school, house stuff, the pets, etc. that I feel pulled in 50 directions and don’t know where to start. I’ll just start with tea, tea solves everything!

-Large square teabag with a tag.
-Teabag smells musty and slightly malty. Tea liquor aroma is sweet and malty.
-Tea liquor is a thick dark brown color.
-Robust flavor and finish. Light malty aftertaste.
-Best with milk and sweetener.
-Good tea. An average breakfast tea. More of a robust than malty flavor.

This one surprised me! As far as bagged black teas go, this is a good standby. It’s bold and strong, bracing you for the day ahead. There aren’t any odd aftertastes that you sometimes get with black teas in bags. Also, it comes in one of those pretty mesh and thread sachets that I like.

I’d get into it further, but if you’ve ever had an English breakfast tea, you know what this is. This one isn’t particularly astringent and has a hint of fruit in it. It’s decent.

I think the bag this tea came in is really niffty. I have never had a mighty leaf tea before. I ended up purchasing a variety pack of mighty leaf tea to bring an amazon order up to $25 to get free shipping, so I have even more tea to try = yay!

As for the tea, this is a pretty standard black tea. It has more flavor depth than say lipton black or something equivalent. I am a big fan of breakfast teas so I enjoyed this pretty throughly. I look forward to trying the other teas!

Ugh, tastes like there’s Nilgiri tea in it – raw and a bit rough. The tasting notes say no, so maybe the Ceylon is just… not so good. If I could ignore that raw note, this would probably be okay, but I can’t so it’s not.

I actually just used this as the base for a custom breakfast blend this morning, but it was so good I wanted to be able to log it! (and didn’t feel like making a custom listing).

I’ve been using this as the base for a lot of things lately, because I have a big bag of it and because it’s a smooth, unprepossessing Assam, mild enough to drink plain but strong enough to give that “black tea” flavor to blends. So, today:

2 parts ML Organic Breakfast (Assam)
1 part LeafSpa Organic Irish breakfast (pure Ceylon!)
1 part Adagio Keemun Encore (…Keemun)

And it’s really, REALLY good. This is the English Breakfast tea that’s been missing from my collection. I’ve been drinking it with a dash of sugar and a good dollop of milk, and I can taste everything I put into the blend. I find Keemun Encore a bit much on it’s own, almost Lapsang smoky, but here it’s just providing that hint of smoky sweet I like in my EBs, and the Ceylon (I have no idea why they market it as an Irish Breakfast, though it is good/strong enough to drink on it’s own) contributes some high notes, and… I’ll stop gushing now. I just wanted to make a note for myself and got a little carried away!

this one is ok , im stuck at the hospital and my only tea option is the coffee show downstairs, they have a few Mighty Leaf teas, i prolly wont try this one again maybe ill try darjeeling next.

Aesthetically speaking, it’s lovely in the little sheer bag. Flavorfully speaking, it’s OK, but nothing to write poetry about. Maybe Will Scarlet on a scale of zero to Robin Hood. Just one sample bag available, but I’m thinking it might be better iced.

got this as a sample with my ML order. i have to say it is nothing special and it is that rich black tea taste that i enjoy. this too is a no nonsense black tea. i can see this becoming a staple in my cabinet for those lazy days when a bag is preferable seeing as school does start next week and i have a 40min drive to school! tea in a snap is preferable on the days i think im running late lol.
