“Thank you mrmopar for this sample Pu-erh! My education in Pu-erh has come from the generous people here on Steepster who share with me from their personal supplies of Pu-erh (like mrmopar, Roughage...” Read full tasting note
“This is so nice tonight. Really mellow and slightly haylike, but there’s a bit of sweetness here too. This almost smells like honey and wood to me. I’ve debated posting anything about my day...” Read full tasting note
“This tea is very rich with a slight mineral taste that moves on to an almost oak taste as found in a good dry red wine. This tea brews a nice dark orange color with a light floral or citrus aroma...” Read full tasting note
“Deep burgundy color. The flavor is smooth and earthy with a medium body and has slight cedar, cocoa, and coffee flavors upfront, and ends with lighter citrus and hay notes, followed by a run-on...” Read full tasting note

Description

Also known as 2007 Menghai Dayi Hong Zhuang Ripe 400g
Tight compression and blended with high-grade material, this ripe tea is another hit from Menghai! Brews up so nice with its deep-red color and rich aroma, thick taste. No post-fermentation flavor left in this one, completely ready for enjoyment now.The name of the tea comes from a poem wrote by Mao Zedong in 1936. It has been printed on the packaing of the cake too.

North country scene:
A hundred leagues locked in ice,
A thousand leagues of whirling snow.
Both side of the Great Wall
One single white immensity.
The Yellow River’s swift current
Is stilled from end to end.
The mountains dance silver snakes
And the highland charge like wax-hued elephants.
Vying with heaven in stature.
On a fine day, the land,
Clad in white, adorned in red,
Crows more enchanting.

This land so rich in beauty
Has made countless heroes bow in homage.
But alas! Qin Shihuang and Han Wudi
Were lacking in literary grace,
And Tang Taizong and Song Taizu
Had little poetry in their souls;
That proud son of Heaven,
Genghis Khan,
Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched.
All are past and gone!
For truly great men
Look to this age alone.
