And another tea from the puerh plus box.

This one is an assam, and sometimes I do like these, they can have a deep rich sweet malty taste. This one doesnt quite make it, its got a bit of bitterness as well as that lipton flavor ive mentioned before. Im guessing because tea bags are mostly assam tea, but its the only flavor and aroma I can put to it.

Its not too bitter, but it feels like it might be overpowering some of the other subtler flavors of the tea. Because I cant get past the malt, tea and bitterness to find any other flavors other than a little chocolate.

Worth trying once, not sure I would drink it again.

This is a really nice basic Assam. There are no surprises here—it’s malty and sweet and strong, and that’s about it—but sometimes that’s just what’s needed. Like today, when I’m gearing up for my first day at a new job and it’s 15F outside. Not sure of the tea situation at the new office, so I’m bringing myself a huge thermos of this in hopes that it helps me stay awake—so not an early riser. This came in my 2016 Happy Bag, and while there are plenty of other comparable Assams out there it’s certainly something I might consider restocking in a future Lupicia order.

Received this with last year’s happy bag and am just now getting around to it. Getting a mild note of malt and slight bitterness. It is relatively good. Don’t know if it’s lost flavor since I received it. It’s tasty.

I brewed one teabag with approx 10oz boiling water for 3 min.

Yep. Agreed with all the other notes here, this is a standard Assam, albeit a nice one.
Smooth, fruity, and a hint of malty yum. There’s also a lingering dry pucker in the back of my mouth at times. I don’t often find this type of astringency in tea!
Not every sip mind you, and the other ones are rather wet and a tad sour.

On a more personal note… I’ve had some rather strange dreams the last few days. I don’t often remember them and yet these ones have yet to fade. Not sure what to think about that!

I’m having a bit of a lull in my crazy work day, so I thought I’d try this tea today. It came in the Lupicia holiday gift set/grab bag extravaganza earlier this year.

This looks like a pretty standard CTC assam, from what I can see in the teabag. It got steeped in my tea tumbler and then I added some vanilla almond milk afterwards. It’s a decent assam, malty, a bit fruity and with a bit of a sweet aftertaste. I have definitely had worse assams! I didn’t really feel that this needed sugar. Perhaps the almond milk was sweet enough?

Anyway I liked this as a morning tea but will probably not need to buy any soon. Still working on sipping down some of my other black teas at the moment. ;)

I had two bags of this tea in my tea box as part of my $50 happy bag and since we were camping this weekend I thought this might be good to bring along, I generally hate dealing with tea leaves when camping, especially in the backcountry!! It’s just messy!! This tea just screams breakfast to me. Perfect with milk and a touch of sugar it reminds me of the teas I used to drink with mum and dad growing up back home in Oz. Nice but nothing to write home about.

I got this as a free sample with my Momo. It doesn’t say ‘Assam’ on the package, it has that scent. Though it seems to smell only mildly malty. That doesn’t really come out in the flavour, and it’s on the bitter side. Once it cools a little, it’s okay.

Not my favorite. Just an average black tea with very few bells and whistles. Still it hits the spot when you need a black tea hit.

Thanks Sil! I’ve enjoyed so many flavoured teas from Lupicia, but I hadn’t actually considered try their straight teas. I’m happy for the chance to now!

It tastes like bread and honey! Wow. That’s actually the best tea I could have grabbed for breakfast! It’s also an easier tea to drink- less kicking me in the face with boldness etc. As it cool, it becomes a little bitter, but it’s still very tasty. I just better finish it up quickly!

This was a free sample from Lupicia’s monthly magazine. I love free samples! In that case of Lupicia, the result is often me making a purchase. And of course I want to get free shipping instead of paying for shipping when I could be spending it on tea!

I don’t know strait teas well, but without looking I’m wanting to guess it is an assam? Like most of Lupicia’s teas, it is very smooth and well balanced. It is slightly malty, but not unbearably so.

Lupicia suggested adding cream and sugar to this tea, but I’m at my parent’s house where there is no cream or milk… but there is canned whipped cream so….

It is a little odd with whipped cream mixed in. Almost a little chemically. It is nice if I look past that. I’m enjoying this tea, but I don’t think it is going to spawn a purchase.
