My 14th tea from The Book of Tea. Hmm, I don’t think I have much to say here because it’s EXACTLY like how Lupicia describes it: full-bodied, smooth, light astringency… a “textbook” example of good Assam tea I’d say. :)

Standard Assam indeed. This is okay, if a little harsh, but since there are so many exceptional Assams on the market it’s not something I’d consider purchasing.

Thank you for the sample Lupicia. While I’m not a huge black tea drinker there are a few out there that I quite enjoy. Thos one requires a bit more steep time then listed. Around 4 mins in all to trully bring out the flavors. Earthy. Woodsy.

This came in the Lupicia tea magazine for October. I better enjoy this cup because my kitty decided to walk by and lick the tea bag. LOL

A amber colored liquor with a soft malty scent. The astringency definately there, even thoughI brewed it lightly. I brewed it in a mason jar too, that was a bad idea because it’s currently too hot to hold.

I went and bought donuts after going to the gym this morning, before I posted my Secret Pumpkin package. Apple fritter goes well with this tea. Even brewed lightly it holds up well to the sweetness of the donut.

I’m generally not a black tea person, and prefer darjeeling to assam, but this one’s not bad. I would consider it as a gift to people starting out in the world of tea. Throw out that Lipton.

Does your kitty often indulge in your tea? ;-)

Not a bad tea with milk. A little weak on its own. Vaguely fruity with a hint of malt. Not really something I would love to have in my cupboard though, as I prefer a bolder cup.
Quite enjoyable overall, just not my fave so far! Would have been perfect if there’d been more flavour intensity.
Also, I added just a teeny bit of honey for my sore throat and it seems to have taken over much of the flavour. I believe this was courtesy of VariaTEA, so thank you for sending this along! :)

This was a good cup of tea. it has a little astringency but not too much, just enough to make it interesting. It’s got a light, citrusy thing going on that makes me think a slice of lemon would go well with it. Nice.

This tea was purchased at the Lupicia store yesterday. I think Lupicia needs to work on their marketing a bit because this is how they describe it:

“Full-bodied, yet smooth taste with light astringency. A standard Assam tea.”

Hmm, Standard Assam tea doesn’t exactly get you enthusiastic about the product, does it? I happen to like assam teas and I drink them all the time in the morning, so I thought I would pick this up. I usually drink these with milk and that’s what I’ve done here. It is a good assam, though pretty average. It has a nice smoothness, malty flavor as well as some fruitiness too.

I’ve been wondering if I should switch to organic tea, and now this report is out by Greenpeace India that tea contains traces of pesticides including DDT. Definitely food for though but I can’t afford to buy everything organic. :(

Every once in a while these pesticide issues pop up online and it always makes me look at my tea sideways. But yeah, organic can be so expensive.

Right? It’s not like I’m about to start buying all organic food all of the time either.
