Sipdown! 42/365

One of the best pear flavours I’ve had in tea. Surprising for a bagged tea! Really enjoyed this one.

Smells like roasted banana sprinkled with powdered cocoa. rather artificial but quite warming.
Tastes definitely more like pear and the cocoa fortunately turned more into chocolate. Some earthy and malty notes from the base tea are also present.

All in all it’s not a bad one. Too artificial but soothing and warming.

Steeped, it smells like banana split but it’s more pear to taste. Despite the convincing flavour, the broth is on the watery, weak side- it’s a tactile thing which adding milk and sugar did not help at all. To sum it up, it’s a surprising yet typical flat Lipton. And the snobbishness takes over.

Thanks OMGsrsly and Anna for passing this along! It’s definitely a fun novelty.

Sipdown (165)

This tea may have one of the most accurate depiction of pear flavor I have ever tried, alas, the chocolate, which is more reminiscent of dusty cocoa powder, is also quite prominent. It’s not bad but it is a weird combination of natural pear and fake chocolate. With that said, it is a very smooth tea. I just wish the pear was stronger. Nonetheless, I am forever grateful to MissB for her generosity of sharing this tea and to Sil for being the middle(wo)man and passing it along.

I like it!!
Thank you Sil & MissB :)
Pear is a flavour I really do enjoy when done right, and I find that this tea has a great balance. A little sweet, a bit tart, and the chocolate accent really pairs well. Adding just a bit of sugar cuts down on the tart and brings out more of a caramelized pear note.
So yeah. Compared to the other tea I just tried, this is a welcome cuppa heaven!

I’m pretty sure this is the tea I just made. Pretty sure. ;) The label on the tea bags just said “Poire Chocolat”.

Thanks to MissB and Sil for sharing.

It’s actually a lot better than I expected! It smells a little like toasted rice, which is somewhat weird. But the flavour is a little sweet. Breathing in over the tea with my mouth, I get the taste of floral pear. And also evaporating off my tongue after I sip. It’s not super chocolatey, but there are hints.

I don’t think I’d want a whole box, as ripe pear really isn’t my favourite flavour, but I’m really glad I got to try this one! Thank you!

Second time I’ve had this (first was yesterday), and I’ll say it’s decidedly different today. Not as chocolately? Mind you, yesterday was another of those hard water situations, whereas today the kettle in the hotel seems clean and fresh with zero buildup. So, who knows.

Regardless, this had a bigger punch of flavor yesterday. Today it’s mild at best, if pleasant. However I’m not so much a fan of pear in tea to be – YES!! Perhaps someone who really loves this type of flavoring would appreciate it more. Plus, the chocolate is completely out of sight today. Boo. Too subtle for me.
