Our 2016 Autumn Ripeness Shou Mei was harvested during autumn in Guan Yang and then pressed into miniature mountain ranges. Each little peak weighs about 4-6 grams, the perfect amount of tea for a 100-120 ml gaiwan. Because they’re individually pressed into single servings, they’re great for bringing with you when you travel.
To help these tightly-pressed leaves fully open, we recommend making your first and second infusions longer and hotter than you might usually. Don’t worry, you can brew this shou mei for a full minute and it won’t get bitter! The aroma has a lovely, deep sweetness to it. The flavor has the brightness of a younger tea with subtle, more medicinal notes of an aged tea. We particularly like the warming sensation of this tea.
