This tastes a lot like amaretto. I tend to steep this in the evening, forget about it by my bedside table, then drink it cold the next morning. It’s good that way.

Bear With Me recommended this to me ages ago, and it’s pretty tasty when I’m not drowning in rooibos apathy.

I like this one too. I got it from Bear With Me too, as a sample to see if I liked Janet’s rooibos…he thought I would, as he feels it is better than David’s rooibos. I like the Rainbow and Plum the best, but I am ok with a few other varieties from her (and others).

Crowkettle

If I have to grab a cup of rooibos, I definitely prefer Janet’s blends to the ones from David’s. I agree with Rainbow and Plum being my favourites too :) Didn’t Janet discontinue the Plum though?

Plunkybug

I still have a fair bit of plum left…both really, but I did get extra plum when she mentioned it being discontinued. It’s been a while since I was in last. I remember she was changing suppliers, and was in the middle of that, so I’ve no idea what offerings she has now. I hope to get back there one day soon.

Crowkettle

I still have practically all my plum left too. Maybe a Vic visit is in the future (even if just for Silk Road/Jaga Silk).

Plunkybug

Yes! Let me know!

another from bear with me Sadly this one fell short for me. There’s something about the raspberry/strawberry that just doesn’t work. It had a slightly articificial taste to me as well, that i couldn’t get past. It might be tastier as a latte though since the milk would make it creamier. thanks for the share BWM!

Bear With Me

Definitely better with milk

Had the last of this tonight with milk. It’s so tasty! I still have some almond rooibos I’m trying to finish, or I’d be getting more this weekend.

…who am I kidding. I’ll probably get more anyways.

This rooibos isn’t too twiggy, steeps nicely even when you ahem forget it on the counter while playing on the internet doing laundry, and has a delightful delicate frangipane flavour – almonds and raspberry jam. Yum! (The one I started with was this recipe, without the tart shell and without the cream… http://www.channel4.com/programmes/jamies-30-minute-meals/articles/all/jools-pasta-with-frangipane-tart-meal-recipe but I have adjusted it. Goodness knows where that scrap of paper went to, though!)

Thanks for sharing, Bear With Me!

I “do laundry” frequently, too.

Cameron B.

Yummy. :)

OMGsrsly

Haha. :D I did actually get a bit of laundry done. Just enough that I won’t run out of anything in the next couple days.

Indigobloom

Sounds tasty! Wonder how it’d do in a latte

OMGsrsly

Probably quite well, but te flavouring isn’t super strong so it might lose a little in translation.

Indigobloom

Hmm yeah. I guess you’d have to help it along by adding some jam :P

Made an eggnog latte with this and it’s sure hitting the spot. The eggnog is somehow bringing out the amaretto even more than regular milk does. Those warm eggnog spices pair beautifully with the amaretto.

Speaking of amaretto, I’ve decided that next time I’m around a liquor store, I’m picking up a bottle of it. It’s one of my favourite flavours in the world and I still have never bought a bottle. Oh, the things I’ll be able to do with it.

Cameron B.

We are now the proud owners of a bottle because I bought it to put in a chocolate pie. :D

Fjellrev

Sounds genius! I’ve never made chocolate pie but the thought of it having amaretto makes me want to make one haha.

Cameron B.

It had crushed amaretti cookie crust, too. :P Which actually ended up being a bit of sugar overload but I lurved it! :D

Fjellrev

Nicely done! I’m sure it was positively delicious. :)

OMGsrsly

Cameron, that sounds delicious!

Cameron B.

It was good! I would probably stick to graham or pie crust next time, the combination was a bit overly sweet (this coming from someone who loves sweet). :)

Anlina

That sounds amazing. I need to start baking again.

This is a rooibos tea I got as a sample. I am not a fan of rooibos, but I was told that Janet’s rooibos blands were much better than David’s blends, and I only like a few of David’s rooibos (and I have to be in the mood to have). This one is supposed to be amaretto, strawberry, and raspberry, and I knew this was the one I wanted to try first.

It smells a bit of the amaretto in the bag, with a little strawberry. Taste-wise, it is still a rooibos taste for me, but I think I could get used to this one more regularly. It was not the worst rooibos I have had. It was a pretty good one, actually. For a rooibos.

Thanks to Shayne (I forget his new name…Java’s Dad maybe?) for letting me try it.
