Description: I remembered when I encountered this cake in Sep/08 in Taiwan, it was a love in the first sight. But I was hesitated to acquire due to the uncertainty in the market condition. A month later, I revisited the only cake I brought back, and it still charmed me, not only its wonderful and taste/aroma but also the sheer beauty of its appearance, enough that I said, ok, why not!
We sourced this cake not from Chen-Guang-He Tang – to be clear, we are not agent for either Chen-Guang-He Tang, Xi Zhi Hao or Yan Ching Hao. We were told these were the first limited batch Chen-Guang-He Tang produced in 2005. Later in 2005, Chen-Guang-He Tang wanted to buy back those because they figured out the rare quality and potential of them. The price of buy-back was not agreed eventually.
Not a single-mountained type cake, but the blend used Ban Zhan wildly-harvested spring leaves as the backbone and other premium mao cha, all of the greater MengHai region. The strength and intensity of the liquor provide proof to the existence of Ban Zhan leaves. The aroma is rich in honey, floral, berry-like acid and a robust and stout woody background. Amazing mature for its young vintage! Superb brewing durability.
