A Supernatural Inspired Black Tea Blend
This black sage tea blend is inspired by the Winchester Brothers themselves, and the Supernatural TV series.
‘Carry on Wayward Son’ by one of my favorite rock bands, Kansas, has appeared in nearly every season of Supernatural. Many fans say it is the theme song for the entire series. I do love me a good rock ballad. It warms my heart that a song released on the 1976 album ‘Leftoverture’ is so closely connected to the wayward sons of Supernatural, that you can almost believe it was written just for them, and fate made it happen thirty years later.
There is often the fan argument of whether Dean or Sam is the favorite. Quite frankly, I don’t think either one of them would have stood on their own. Supernatural worked from the beginning because they were a duo, it just wouldn’t make sense to have a singular wayward son.
When I started thinking about a tea blend that would be worthy of the brothers, I knew it had to be a black tea because those boys definitely need the caffeine in their line of work. So, then I started thinking about the evil beings that hide around every corner and it became clear to me that this tea had to incorporate the herb sage because evil spirits won’t stand a chance. Now, many probably think that sage is only good as a spice for cooking or for smudging. I love the smell of sage, so I didn’t think twice about adding it to black tea. Sage is actually rich in antioxidants, is a known anti-inflammatory, and it contains vitamin K. I then added lavender because the combination of lavender and sage really spoke to me (or was that the spirits?). Lavender is calming, it eases anxiety, and according to new age experts it has a positive effect on your spirit. I figured the more good energy, the better! I hate to disappoint, but I added the ginger because it tastes good. That’s right, no extra demon hunting power there.
Now, let’s get down to the big picture. A hot cup of this sage tea blend is sensory perfection. When everything is combined together in one perfect cup, demons and monsters don’t stand a chance.
