World famous Gunpowder derives its name from the Chinese word “Zhucha,” meaning Pearl Tea, and from the tightly rolled shape of the leaves. Early European tea importers renamed this tea because of its shape. Today this tea is the most common green tea in the world. The brew has a rich, roasted, slightly smoky aroma with a sweet vegetable flavor and a satisfying astringency.
