From Green Tea Guru

Complex, deep with mocha creaminess & hard hitting Cha Qi.

This small label boutique cake is entirely ‘Gong Ting’ grade Menghai old tree ‘Da Shu’ material. Guangdong Storage. Deep and strong bassy aroma and taste with a Menghai cream thats almost mocha! The taste is strong, creamy and sweet. Lovely and smooth, exceptionally so, it glides down the throat with ease. the liquid is thick and hangs to the cup. Quite a high amount of Cha Qi, lots of energy in this Ripe! With a light fermentation process this tea has been given room for further ageing potential. Simply put, one of the best Ripe’s we’ve ever tried.

I second Togo’s notes about this tea. It’s easy to brew, it has a lot of sweetness in taste and aroma, a nice thick, viscous texture and a very warming mouthfeel.

It has notes to dates, dry fruits, blackcurrant, clover, cinnamon. No note is outstanding hence, good balance. A lasting aftertaste with some aromatic chemical activity that tingles at the palate. No bitterness unless pushed a lot, no astringency.

This is a tea that I would summarize as having awesome mouthfeel, great smell, above average taste and barely noticeable cha qi.

There is very little aroma in the dry leaves, but once wet, especially after a few infusions once they open up, it becomes exhilirating. It is sweet, warming and fruity with notes of coffee, gelatine sweets, blue grapes, dried fruit and brazil nuts. The taste is smooth and sweet with very little bitterness. As for the mouthfeel, I found the tea to be very mouth-watering, thick, slimy and soft at the same time. It induces a slight alcohol like tingling sensation.
