From Forsman Tea

What’s in it
Fair Trade rooibos, chocolate oil and roasted chocolate grain.

How it tastes to us
So smooth, full-bodied and creamy on the tongue. Nothing’s vying for attention here. You reach for this tea when chocolate’s on the mind. Red rooibos, with it’s honeyed, caramel & woodsy notes is a natural mate for the deep notes of chocolate.

Why we chose it
Because a friend at the Victoria Tea Festival said we HAD to try it. She said this tea was the best chocolate rooibos she’d ever tasted.

How we steep it
Water, boil, steep. No need for a timer (it won’t go bitter). Simple. And there’s really no need to add anything to this tea unless you really like it sweet.

When we drink it
Since this tea takes zero brain power to steep, we drink it after a long day at work.

Why we like Forsman
Forsman Tea company was born in Finland in 1979 and has grown to have a strong international presence. They’re a prime example of the high quality tea that comes out of Europe. We love their oldschool style! It proves they’ve had time to get their blending skills down. In Canada, Forsman can be found through Dream Tea’s online boutique

This tea is pretty good for a rooibos! Definitely tastes chocolatey, in a chocolate liqueur sort of way, which is surprisingly tasty. Enough rooibos flavour that I can tell it’s there, but it’s not objectionable. Overall, it’s a reasonable selection that I’ll finish off, but not repurchase.

Also, sorry for the very short tasting notes lately. I’m feeling very uninspired…

ETA: Also a good second infusion.

I’ve been there. Some days I feel like I don’t want to drink tea because I’ll feel bad if I don’t log/review it, and that’s just ridiculous because… it’s all supposed to be fun right?

Short reviews are better than no reviews.

Also I can’t wait to try this one – I like rooibos and I love chocolate. Was this your last box?

Kittenna

Yeah. I haven’t been logging while drinking much lately, just logging after the fact (except for today).

I thought this was pretty good on the chocolate flavour; better than I had expected.

I have… two more boxes? One more box? I don’t remember, haha. If this is my third then I have two more. Bonus box due to being shorted in the first one. Since then they’ve all been good though :D

Backlog:

Not a bad tisane … I like the strong chocolate flavor. Forsman Tea seems to have followed my rule: more chocolate = better … because this is really nice and chocolate-y.

The rooibos is distinguishable here but I’m not minding that so much because the nutty flavor of the rooibos melds nicely with the bittersweet chocolate-y tones. I don’t usually taste a “caramel-y” note with rooibos, but I was surprised to discover a hint of caramel-like flavor to this. A nice complement to the chocolate.

Overall, a really nice rooibos selection from my Amoda Box.

This is a pretty tasty Rooibos. I agree with the other reviewer it is chocolaty but in a chocolate liqueur sort of way. I had it plain but I might try messing around with different additions and see how that changes the flavors. I would not buy this normally but it was a nice addition to the Amoda box this month.
