From Folk Apothics

We aren’t promising you will age like Methuselah, but this infusion presents a powerhouse of herbs and tea to give you your best shot. A beautiful and enlightening blend of gunpowder green tea, rosemary, sage, safflower, rose petals, with lemon and rose extract.

Infusion: typically one will add 1tsp of herb to 8 oz of almost boiling water. Adjust to your mug size accordingly. Allow to steep for 3-5 minutes whilst pondering life. Strain. Sip. Enjoy. Be Present in all you do.

I think most of my notes start like this (sorry in advance) – I really love floral teas. Rose especially, I think, because many of my grandmother’s desserts growing up had rose water in them. Maybe it’s nostalgia. No matter the reason, I love them. This one is no exception and I think with the herbs present I can only love this more.

It’s even more delicious as it cools, so I’m certain it will make an amazing iced tea as well.

2036 tasting notes

So guys, it has started! And as I live farther east than you, we have there a morning, with temperatures around 0°C, rather below, overcast, quite unappealing weather.

ADVENT CALENDAR SEASON HAS STARTED and since I got only one (won’t re-do Sonnentor this year) and CuppaGeek one is still in the travel, I start with Shae’s “swap” Advent Calendar. And first one is…*ba dum tss

Immortalitea by Folk Apothics. Okay, what we got here? It looks like a green tea. And indeed it is! Then I see quite a nice amount of safflover which looks like fire in contrast of green tea. I notice some other ingredients, which are wiry and few rose petals.

Allow to steep for 3-5 minutes whilst pondering life. Let’s translate “pondering”. Ah okay, I get it now. How on point when I was preparing this tea and reading derk’s note (https://steepster.com/derk/posts/410124) and writing the comment.

You want to hear about the tea, right? I used boiling water, but I let it cool, thermometer was saying me 78°C when I added the strainer of 4 grams in. I let it steep for four minutes, which sounded reasonable to me.

Loose leaf, as well the brew is herbal, I notice mostly rose in dry stuff. When brewed, I notice some earthy notes as sage and rosemary. And quite strongly the lemon, I would dare to say lemon balm, but it’s not included.

Brewed, and after 4 minutes it is thick tea. And quite earthy. Quite a lot herbal forward with a lemon twist. I don’t notice much of the green tea, but caffeine boost a bit. Nice tea, but not for daily drinking. We will see how much it will make me immortal.

Be Present in all you do. Sounds deep. And to be honest I am not really sure if I am present in all I do. Sometimes I behave like I am doing it just because I have to. Ehhm…

I don’t have that ideas how to make it with all the background, like books and flowers… but when somebody can do that, it’s amazing. My light parameters aren’t great as well.

PS: I went bit on writing mode while writing this note it seems!

Same weather a bit north from you.
Good luck with your calendar! I’m not having one. I prefer to spend this December on gradual cleaning of my cupboard, in order to start 2021 with some new teas.

Loved the tasting note and the pictures. Not trying to make anyone jealous, but I am (not) enjoying unseasonally warm temps here-50s and 60s Fahrenheit and rain. No freeze, no frost, no snow. Yet and still-Martin, reading your tea note was a nice way to usher in December. : )

White Antlers: Glad that you liked it. It took me around 45 minutes to write it, catch errors and mistakes, make format how I wanted to. I was playing with the photo for around 15 minutes as well. We got first snowflakes in past weekend.

Cameron B.: I still haven’t decided if I want to join that network. I really don’t need any procrastination element in my pocket. So, probably I won’t join earlier than finishing the Uni. Sorry about that.

We got snow here as well, so it looks appropriately wintry for the first of December. I didn’t get an advent calendar either, partly because there aren’t many of them that feature unflavoured teas and partly because my cupboard might explode if I tried to put more tea in it. Seeing all these advent posts is making me regret my decision a little!

Leafhopper: Good for you being able to keep up the shopping ban. I wasn’t really able to, and I got so many teas next to me right now!

Shae: Thank you a lot :) it was interesting start of the Advent, though it wasn’t really festive blend. But this is a tea I wouldn’t try otherwise and that was something I was looking for. I hope it will be tasty for you as well. And as of immortality, I will try to tell ya’! :D (is it the herbs which prolong the life?)

Maybe you’re right about the herbs! Part of what intrigued me about this blend was the inclusion of rosemary and sage. I enjoy both herbs and think they are a curious addition to a tea blend. I included some local-ish teas and some new-to-me companies for something different, but I promise there are some festive ones scattered about in there as well!

INdeed they are curious addition and I liked them there. As I wrote, that lemon twist was indeed very interesting and I wonder that there isn’t a lemon balm in!

I think I read that it has lemon oil. I bet that’s why it was such a strong flavor!
