Story
This oolong was harvested from a tea garden around 1800 meters high on Hehuan Shan, near Lishan. The name He Huan means ‘happy together’ in Chinese, so we like to call it “happy together tea”. Although this is a lesser known mountain, often marketed as Lishan tea in Taiwan, it has been consistently impressive for the last few seasons. We love it!
Description
The broth of this high mountain oolong is viscous and slightly buttery, with a smooth texture that coats the mouth and throat. The fragrance has juicy notes of citrus and sweet flowers, and a gentle milk candy aroma. Most importantly, it’s balanced and feels comforting to drink.
Although we weren’t able to return to Taiwan this season, when we tasted samples in the shop this one was clearly the cleanest tasting with the smoothest broth. It has an elegant sweet fragrance, and a long lasting aftertaste.
We sincerely recommend Alishan, Lishan and Shan Lin Xi drinkers to consider this tea. Due to warm weather, the Winter harvest this year overall lacked intensity. We are still hoping to find more options later in the season, and have some good prospects. But for the time being, drink this Hehuan Shan for a classic, clean high mountain oolong with balanced fragrance and smooth body.
