Description

Traditional Moroccan Mint tea is made with gunpowder green tea, fresh spearmint and lashings of sugar. After brewing, it is poured from a height until air cooled enough to drink. The yellow-green liqueur is wonderfully refreshing and is a pleasure to consume the requisite three cups, in order to be polite! It is said, “the first cup is as bitter as life, the second is as sweet as love, and the third is as gentle as death.” Profound thoughts for a delightful brew! Gunpowder tea is rolled into small, round pellets and somewhat resembles “shot.” In China, however it is called Pearl tea. The old recipe calls for three teaspoons of gunpowder tea and three tablespoons of fresh spearmint. This is a close approximation in flavor to the original. In Morocco, tea vendors with portable tea urns, provided day long refreshment. It is well worth brewing our own, for Moroccan Mint tea is unusually cooling. Traditional blend of Gunpowder Green Tea & spearmint. Wonderfully cooling, hot or iced.
