Adventaggedon Day Fourteen – 1/6
Gongfu!
I’ve had several consecutive nights of very poor sleep, and this morning when I woke up after just over an hour of sleep I felt like I had hit a wall of insomnia so bad I couldn’t picture walking to the metro without tripping over my own feet. Not so fun fact – when my insomnia gets really bad I’ve been known to leave my apartment without shoes on and not notice for blocks. So, that was a sign to take a sick day.
I tossed all of this sample into a gaiwan that was definitely too small for the leaf quantity I had, but I rolled with it and just kept my steeps very, very short. It was actually a beautiful session with really sweet and aromatic top notes. It tasted a lot like some kind of floral flavoured candy, but in a non-cloying way and coupled with equally fragrant notes of sugar snap peas. Very crisp and vegetal underneath that layer of flowers and sweet perfume. All the teas today were really good, but this one was especially just what my soul needed in that late morning haze.

Thank the advent spirits that almost all of my teas today were caffeinated, so I was able to get something into my system to make me feel like less of a zombie before eventually crashing and getting some sleep in the afternoon.
Friendly reminder that I do not numerically rate DAVIDsTEA blends as I’m currently employed there and it would be an obvious conflict of interest. Any blends you see with numerical ratings were rated prior to my employment there. These reviews are a reflection of my personal thoughts and feelings regarding the teas, and not the company’s.
