From DAVIDsTEA

Berry good

A few months ago, David tried a fruity dessert tea that knocked his socks off. It was subtle and refined, delicately floral and slightly sweet. He was intrigued. He had to have it. But what was the secret ingredient? Cranberries. Normally associated with a neon red holiday sauce, these beautiful berries really sing when paired with rich, floral black tea. Here we blend them with big pieces of pear and apple for the fruit and black tea blend you won’t believe you ever went without.

Ingredients: Cranberry, black tea, pear, apple, artificial flavouring*.

Price per 50g: $7.50

Oh my Goodness is this tea ever delicious!
I haven’t liked some of the pear flavoured teas that Davids has had in the past so I didn’t want to get my hopes up with this one. I loved it as soon as I smelled it and took a chance on a 50g bag. Man, am I ever glad I did! It steeps up wonderfully even if you forget it on the counter for a bit. Nice and juicy with the pear/apple flavor strongest and mellowed out by the cranberries. Not very acidic at all, and I’ve enjoyed it straight and with a teeny bit of agave. I think it depends on how much of the black tea leaves end up in your strainer that determines how much of the black tea notes actually come out in the steeped tea, but either way I loved it! I hope this one sticks around for a while!

I also bought a 50 g bag of it (though I haven’t got to it yet). I found it smelled like bubblegum, so I’m glad to read this review!

Unfortunately, all the big chunks end up on top, and all the tea ends up on the bottom. This means that if you just scoop from the top, your drink sorta just ends up tasting like a watery, faintly sour tisane and it’s pretty boring.

If you manage to scoop actual tea into it, you get more of the added flavourings as well, and the actual tea taste helps balance and lend a good base, and then overall I rather like this tea.

Of course, this is my very last cup of it—which is why I can say all of this, because I’ve finally gotten to the bottom of the bag where all the actual tea is.

The pear isn’t too bad; it isn’t overcome by the tart cranberry, anyways. It’s sweet and nice, and I DO like pear.

Yummy! This is the tea from Day 1 of the 12 Days of Christmas Tea exchange. Thank you Ellyn. It has been awhile since I have had a fruity tea. This was such a treat. I opened the package and could smell the cranberries and a hint of sweet. My first cup I added nothing and prepared as instructed. I would take a sip and get sweet creamy pear and every once in a while get a hint of tart from the cranberries. My second cup I added a touch of sugar and it was just like eating a sweet berry pie! Yum. This is my first DAVID’s Tea and I really enjoyed it. I might have to try some more of their blends.

For a fruity black tea this isn’t bad. Don’t expect much of a cran-pear taste though. Though considering I have negative reactions to cranberry I am not terribly disappointed with this.

Would I get this again? NO. Though maybe I’ll steep it longer next time.

The smell of this tea reminds me of the cough syrup that made me gag as a child.

HOWEVER, the taste is absolutely delightful! It’s got the perfect amount of sweet fruity flavor without being overpowering. I am really glad Courtney sent me a sample of this, because I was hesitant to order it myself, and I would have really been missing out. Yum!

This tea doesn’t really do anything for me. At first it tastes like black tea with a touch of apple. Then as you swallow, I get I think the cranberry.. The after taste is mostly just the black tea and apple, but I think I can taste the pear in there. Overall this tea is disappointing. For being called cranberry and pear it just doesn’t work. I can’t even taste pear really and the cranberry is just a hint. This is not a repurchase for me.

i love cranberry pear. I am loving a lot of the new teas from DAVIDsTEA right now.
I really don’t like cranberries but it smelled so enticing i had to! Oooh i’m not good with temptations ;p The cranberries in here are not tart at all, it tastes a lot more like.. cranberry sauce-y. or like ice wine! very sweet. the pear in it is gorgeous. so smooth, so creamy, so luxurious! Makes the whole ordeal so elegant. This can be a lot of fun when iced because it is so fruity, my friend liked it iced much better. I will have it hot though thank you, makes me feel very pretty :)! and also getting over my dislike of cranberry makes me feel so much more. ZEN! zing! haha! i’m in a silly mood. I’ll stop writing now

Really warm and tasty tea. This reminds me a lot of the Second Cup Holiday blend, but better. I’m normally not a fan of pears, but I don’t find it takes over too much, so I don’t mind it. The cranberry flavour really comes out nicely too. This is the perfect fall to winter transitional tea.

This was Day#1 for 12 Days of Christmas Tea Swap 2013. Thanks Ellyn, it was packaged so professional looking! This is my first DavidsTea! It looked beautiful and smelled just as good as it looked. Black tea and the sweetness of the pear really stood out to me. I will have to try more of DavidsTea. They seem to have a lot of sweet teas, which are right up my alley.
