Atomic Lemon combines the invigorating green mate, sencha green tea, cinnamon, ginger and lemon bringing energy and good mood to face ail challenges!

I almost drank this last night at about 10pm, which would have been a huge, horrible mistake, because apparently there’s mate and green tea in here and I like sleep. But that makes it great for this morning.
In ways, I like this blend. The lemon is nice and there’s a bit of zip from the ginger. I actually really like the way the hibiscus was implemented here, too. It’s tart and adds to a real lemony feel without overpowering the whole cup or leaving the metallic taste I associate with hibiscus.
The cinnamon is kind of weird though. It adds a strange sort of sweetness and doesn’t really fit to me. It also seems to just be muddling what could have been a really crisp pick me up.

The brewed tea is not as strong or as sour lemon as I had expected from the smell. There is a slight pepper lemon rind flavor. I am getting spice from the ginger and cinnamon. There is a bit of hibiscus but it is not overpowering. There is a tinge of sweetness but the tea is mostly sour/bitter. Not bitter in a bad way, bitter like a lemon. I think this tea is well done, however I would have preferred it to have a stronger sour lemon flavor.
I have to say I was disappointed that this one is labelled as a tisane. It has green tea in it. It also has yerba mate, which is akin to having caffeine (for me anyway). I drank this last night, excited it was a tisane and not a black tea. Then I couldn’t sleep all night I realized today after reading some other reviews that this was probably why I couldn’t sleep. Maybe I should have read the ingredients first, but I know I am not the only one that was fooled. I guess that is why they call it atomic :P

I almost drank this last night too, however I read ingredient lists faithfully due to allergies. I know it takes some of the fun out of it, and yet…. really glad I waited on the mate. We should all send DF a note! Definitely not a tisane.

It still tastes lovely though, and is a solid green mate. (Not an herbal, as the package lists it). Tastes very much like mate and lemon rind, although there is a weird cinnamon smell to it that’s a bit offputting.
I love other mate’s though, so this will stay out of my rotation. Having said that, I’ll definitely enjoy the energy boost it gives in the next hours or so!
It must be the name, because the ingredients you and Lala have described don’t seem anything spectacular or out of the ordinary – but like I noted on her tasting note, this just seems really interesting! I guess this is just another example of how much impact a name or title really has…

Although I will grant that maté is technically a tisane, sencha green tea most definitely disqualifies this blend! Also I agree that there does appear to be a hint of hibiscus in this although there is no hibiscus in the ingredients.
Steeped it smells very lemony and gingery. I probably should have let this one steep longer, but I was worried about the green tea at 5 minutes. I guess it’s minimally present. The brew is a little weak but the flavor is pretty good. Lemony, a bit of heat from the ginger, and a light sweetness from some ingredient, but I don’t know what. This probably would be amazing iced!
I know, I drank this tea last night without looking at the ingredients because it said tisane on the packet. I was so mad last night, I couldn’t sleep and didn’t know why until I looked up this tea on steepster and noticed the opposite of sleep inducing ingredients.
Aw man, that sucks! I guess that’s what makes the lemon “Atomic”

i’ve been trying to play viola more. i am very much a uber beginner. and can’t read music or anything. i just figure out the main melodies to songs i like and then play them poorly.

don’t let the music snobs spoil your love of music—reading music can come in handy for sure, but also handy (if not more necessary, imho) is having a great ear and a lot of fun! My fiancé is almost completely blind (as am I), and although he can read braille music, he doesn’t read it at all anymore and learns everything (very quickly) by ear, and works as a music therapist (his primary instrument being the piano). I sing, and when he and I are learning pieces/songs together, it’s all about ears! :)

i play bass by ear because that’s what you do in bands. but when i started viola the first time a few years back i took lessons and tried to use a book and it just basically sucked all the fun out of an instrument that is already WAY difficult! i quit lessons and put it away for a few years. so now it’s time for a re-do! 2014!
if all i do is play the Hobbit Misty Mountains song and Lykke Li’s ‘I Follow Rivers’ on repeat then so be it.

Huh- was there hibiscus in this? I wasn’t expecting it to be pink but it starting turning as soon as the bag hit the water.
I’m having this during my lunch break with a chicken salad and it actually works really well. The lemon is what I get first and foremost and the tartness from the hibiscus is next. No real spices or actual guayusa/green tea that I can see.
I’m excited to read other tasting notes and see if I’ve even got the right blend, to be honest. I do like it and wish I had enough to try iced…
Day 8 of the advent calendar.
I was a little worried watching this brew because the water started turning pink… hibiscus. It smells nice and lemony when dry, but once brewed I’m getting an odd smell. Candied orange peels like you get in Asian grocery stores, which is coming through in the taste as well. There is some lemon taste, certainly not an atomic level and I get that hibiscus bite too. It isn’t over the top hibiscus, but it isn’t really a back ground or supporting roll (the only way I can stand it) either. The aftertaste is kind of dirty and dry. I recently read a tasting note where someone described a tea tasting like burnt ash and this tea makes me think of that. Definitely an ashy taste here. Well, time to toss the cup and pick a different tea!

I made the same mistake and drank this at night! Another one of their tisanes also contained green tea.
