For those of you whose tea choices are seasonally driven, this is a nice transitional summer-to-fall option (it was foggy and 72 most of the morning—yum!). It is roasty-toasty, woodsy, and sweet. Good on ice as well.

I love the notion of using all the scraps of a tea plant to make something tasty. My mom was a quilter and saved scraps; I do the same with remnants of my paper crafting projects—and quite often, the pieced-together leftover is just as pleasing as the original. That applies to this humble little kukicha as well.

First, it has rained or stormed almost every day so even though it is hot and humid, the dark clouds are making tea feel cozy as long as you keeo the a/c going. I am doing some comfort teas as well. And I second the statement that sometimes what you create from the scraps is as good as or better than the original!

Finished up my box of this one. It was always nice to have around for those times when I wanted a cup of something warm and soothing and not exactly subtle, but not too strong or flavored either. I’ll have to look for something similar to occupy the same place in my cupboard! A houjicha would probably fit the description nicely…
