Pumpkin Butterscotch Coffee

Every component of this tea is distinctively present. When the tea hit my lips, I immediately thought that this tasted just like the Butterscotch Pudding tea but then the pumpkin spice took over. Cinnamon and clove were strong but not overwhelming and they gave way to the subtle coffee notes that ended the sip. It’s definitely something I enjoyed but ultimately I find myself craving Butterscotch Pudding/Butterscotch & Hazelnut Mocha Candies. Doesn’t mean I will have a hard time getting through this but I doubt I will become too attached.

This is a tasty combination of flavors – it is impressive how much this tastes like a pumpkin latte. But I think the coffee flavoring does something weird to my head, based on my experience with this cup and the Red Queen Cupcake. I probably won’t order any more of this tea (or any of the other coffee-flavored ones Stacy has left), but I encourage anyone currently on the fence to try some of this before it runs out!

Just received my (possibly penultimate) package of Butiki teas and had to try this one first. Steeped according to the instructions on the package and added a tiny drop of agave since I couldn’t open my rock sugar jar.

The first thing I taste is the pumpkin and pumpkin spice flavour – the butterscotch sweetens it up and adds a high note while the coffee sashays in the background, like a deep bass thrum, supporting your decision to drink tea instead of coffee today.

Perfectly smooth and expertly blended, Butiki just keeps me coming back for more right until the end!

So, I’m pretty sure Stacy of Butiki Teas is out to get me with all these fancy new blends.

I obviously had to order this one when it was released recently, and it arrived yesterday. Aw crap, now that I’m back to work instead of home with the baby, my husband sees whatever packages I get in the mail…no more hiding tea purchases.

I actually drove home on my lunch break today to see if boots I’d ordered had arrived yet. They hadn’t. Anyway that’s a bit of a digression.

So, while I was home, I decided to make myself a cup of this tea. It’s like -30 degrees celcius outside today, the kind of cold that makes your face hurt. Hot drinks WIN!

The only thing with all of these amazing Butiki teas is that most seem to be greens, whites and oolongs – aka fussy leaves. At home I have a fancy temperature setting type of kettle, but the only teas I bring to work for my daytime stash are ones I can just make with boiling water. I do have a little tea thermometer at my desk but I really can’t be bothered mucking around with that too often.

Since I was home anyway, why not make this!? It’s the one I was most excited about.

I brewed it up and was amazed by the potent smell, then equally impressed by the taste. I thought I’d be disappointed that it’s not a black tea, given the flavours involved, but dammit, she’s done it again.

Considering the final product in my cup was a clear liquid most closely resembling water, this tea is VERY flavourful. It’s the good-for-you tea version of a bad-for-you Pumpkin Spice Latte! Coffee, pumpkin, butterscotch, all there!

I’m only disappointed I somehow NEVER tried any of Butiki’s other pumpkin teas of the past. I guess my wallet is happy about that though.

It’s super SUPER yummy. That’s my bottom line.

I went and ordered another ounce. I think that’s all you need to know.

This is one of Stacy’s recent reblends after closing up shop. I can’t believe i am the first to review this tea! When I saw that this was a white blend, I was ever so slightly worried. There are some strong flavors in this blend. Heavy winter flavors like coffee and pumpkin?
However, I cast my fears aside from the first sip. Wowza! This is a sexy and smooth blend. It tastes so right with her Kenyan Silver needles. The pumpkin flakes were a nice touch. I loved how the coffee flavor was not astringent nor bitter. I’m feeling the smoothness and richness from an espresso with that flavor. The butterscotch ties both the pumpkin and the coffee together. It really is like a better pumpkin latte! From the four western steepings I got from this tea, the coffee flavor stayed the longest. The butterscotch was a close second, I lost it around the third steeping. The pumpkin flakes only graced my tongue for the first steeping, then became a whisper in the second. The brew was so velvety smooth that I could not have cared any other way. I enjoyed it with a white chocolate kit Kat that I had calling my name. I felt the same creamy smoothness in the candy bar as I did with this tea.
Can you believe that this is my first Butiki tea? I am so sad to have found them too late.
