“This tea is a solid performer, but not likely to knock anyone’s socks off. Another five to ten years of somewhat damp storage would likely do it favors, as it has fallen into the usual Xiaguan trap...” Read full tasting note
This is the ‘hard to find’ 2003 Xiaguan tuo in dark green box. This 100g raw pu erh tuo is already 13 years old and it is a special treat that this tuo is Malaysian stored which gave the the pu erh a distinct aged taste and aroma due to year-round hot and humid climate of the region.
I had purchased this Xiaguan tuo from a fellow Malaysian tea collector friend. He drinks and collects Chinese tea and had to make some space to store his recent tea acquisitions (I thought it was only me that had this problem).
This tea is very well stored; very clean with no off smells. This tea when brewed is strong and impressive. It has nice woody, herbal and floral complexities that will please any pu erh tea drinker. Slightly intoxicating. A nice tuo to own for reference to old Xiaguan tea and the famed Malaysian storage.
