Description

This is a special order cake made for Cha-no-you Tea Art, Malaysia. It is a tea shop in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and owned by a lady tea celebrity, Mei Lin (hope I got the spelling right). Mei Lin is highly regarded and respected by many Malaysia tea circles. She had been credited with promoting Chinese tea in Malaysia and was involved in setting up several tea exhibitions in this region.

This pu erh tea is a 2008 Bangwei Gushu raw pu erh. Gushu is Chinese for ‘old tree’. Mei Lin had personally selected this tea for her shop. Bangwei region in Yunnan has many old pu erh trees that were not chopped down during stricter government control period in the 1960s-80s. Tea drinking was considered a luxury then and most land there were earmarked for growing other crops instead.

This tea had been stored in Malaysia by Mei Ling for 8 years, Her passion for tea is evident as this tea is very well stored in a clean environment. The hot and humid Malaysian climate (all year round) had aged this gushu pu erh well and would please any serious pu erh tea drinker.

This tea has very good salivating action and is very hard to hold in the mouth. Very smooth and easy to drink. This tea is very vivid and scores highly in smoothness, sweetness and mellowness. This tea is strong and I felt a little ‘perky’ after a tea session of this tea. Nice sweet hints from the 7th/8th infusions. This tea brews 12-15 infusions easily.
