This is a VIT created for a couple of 52Teas Ambassadors – they wanted a green tea blend that was a little bit sweet, a little bit minty and a little bit spicy – and they wanted to call it RandyCandy!
Think of it as a unique twist on a Moroccan Mint tea. I started with three organic Chinese teas: Gunpowder, Chun Mee and Sencha. Then I added peppermint leaves, crushed black peppercorns, aleppo pepper and smoked chili pepper. Then I added a little bit of Tulsi (I used a blend of green, purple and wild Tulsi) to accent the minty notes and enhance the depth of spice. Finally, I tossed in some amaranth petals to add a little bit of eye appeal to the blend.
The result is – as I eluded to above – a unique twist on the classic Moroccan Mint tea. The green tea is smooth and sweet. The peppermint has an exhilarating flavor and brings a cooling note to the cup while the heat from the peppercorns and peppers is warm – but not spicy or hot. I think “Zingy” would be a better word to describe the flavor.
It’s refreshingly different!
