Tea of the Week for April 29, 2024!
When I first decided to go with this tea, I had to search the archives to make sure that we’ve never actually crafted a Banana Cream Pie Black Tea before – because – it seems like we should have, right? But after searching all the information that I have available to me – which has been severely limited to me due to the great computer crash of 2017 – I could not find a Banana Cream Pie Black Tea. There have been Banana Cream Pie teas with bases other than black tea (Houjicha & then my v.2 with Houjicha/White Tea) but no black tea base.
So, I decided to remedy that immediately.
This blend starts with our go-to organic black tea blend of Assam & Yunnan. I then added freeze-dried bananas, vanilla beans & a touch of magic essence to create a delectable banana cream pie experience for your teacup! This amazing tea is organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural.
organic ingredients: black teas, bananas, vanilla beans & natural flavors
to brew: shake the pouch well. Those vanilla beans are super tiny and may sift toward the bottom of the pouch & you really want those mixed throughout when you measure out this tea! Use 3g of tea to 12oz of nearly boiling water (205°F) allow to steep for 3 ½ minutes & strain.
serving suggestion: During my taste tests of this tea, I drank it hot & it disappeared pretty quickly upon pouring it into my teacup – so I didn’t get to taste the cooled down version, but I suspect this would be good cold too! I imagine it would work amazingly as a cold-brew. It makes an amazing latte! I highly recommend brewing it strong & adding your choice of milk (or for extra creaminess, try it with some half & half or heavy cream!) It also works well without sweetener, although I found that a teensy bit of sugar brought out the creamy vanilla notes as well as a bit more sweetness of banana.
The strong, bold black tea base is softened by the creaminess of the vanilla & the sweet banana. Makes a delicious morning tea!
How could I forget Banana Coconut Cream Pie Houjicha?!?! Is that one eligible for future holiday box polls?
Hi tea-sipper: Actually, no. Houjicha is a difficult to package tea because it’s very “bulky” – it takes up a lot of space in a package without adding much weight. 9 grams of Houjicha takes up twice the room of 9 grams of most other teas (the same is true of most white teas). That’s why I don’t include white teas in the holiday box as well.
Ah okay. I knew that rule was for white tea, wasn’t sure on houjicha! I probably knew this in the past at some point, which is why I didn’t vote for it. :D
However, it’s important to still mention it because anything that I can’t (for whatever reason) add to the poll, I will add to my reblend list for the next year, and when it comes time for me to decide what to reblend at any given time (I generally do 1 reblend every month, some months I do a whole month of reblends, others, I don’t do any reblends but usually at least 1 per month) I turn to my reblend list. :)
okay. I will remember this. :D
