more about this tea: this is a brand new blend that I created for Reblend Month – I hadn’t planned on creating a new blend during Reblend Month – because . . . REBLEND month. However, when I went to the tea studio to create the reblend I had planned on crafting, I realized (in the middle of blending!) that I didn’t have enough of all the ingredients I needed to reblend the tea I had planned on – so this blend is inspired by the tea I had planned on reblending – but takes it a step further with the addition of Marshmallow Root & Marshmallow Leaf.
The blend I had planned on reblending is called Lemon-AID – which is an herbal blend of all things lemon-y, and while I had some of all the ingredients, I didn’t have enough of them to complete the blend – so rather than place an order to get a small amount of all those lemon-y herbs, I decided to instead add some marshmallow root & marshmallow leaf & see what happens.
What happened is this lovely blend that is bright with lemon-y notes but with a soft, fluffy note that softens the tartness of the lemon just a bit. It’s like a soft, sweet lemony cloud! A dream – in lemon.
Lemon LOVE!
to brew: shake the blend well before measuring out. Actually, I would recommend stirring the blend – if you possibly can – as the herbs are somewhat “fluffy” & don’t necessarily “shake” very well, so, if you can get a clean, dry spoon in the pouch and give it a little bit of a stir to mix around the ingredients, that would be better than “shaking”.
Measure 3 ½ grams of the herb blend to 12oz of very hot water (190°F) & allow to steep for at least 8 minutes. This blend has no tannins, so it won’t get bitter – it will just get more flavorful the longer you steep it. I find that 8 minutes produces a perfectly lovely cuppa, though, but if you want an even intense flavor, steep it longer! Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes. Enjoy!
serving suggestions: I have not yet had the opportunity to try this cold-brewed, but I suspect it’s going to be absolutely amazing. It’s delicious served hot – it’s also really good when you step away from your cup and come back to it an hour or so later and it’s cold. It’s just good.
It’s good without sweetener, but I personally find it a bit more on the herbaceous side without a little bit of honey or sweetener of some kind – good, but a bit more herbaceous than I want it to be – so I do add a small drizzle of honey which softens the herbaceous note just enough. And with the honey, it’s remarkably soothing! So very good!
