Description

Tea of the Week for May 16, 2022!

A sweet, dessert-y tea for summer – this blend evokes memories of warm fruit cobblers & crisps that I used to enjoy as a kid. Sweet, fruity notes of cherry with notes of warm cinnamon, allspice & nutmeg. Delicious served warm as a latte, it also makes a really pleasing iced drink.

It’s naturally caffeine-free, organic, vegan, gluten-free, allergen-friendly & all natural.

organic ingredients: honeybush, oats, cherries, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, amaranth petals & all natural flavors

please note: the labels for this tea do not include amaranth petals in the ingredients list. this is my error – I forgot to include amaranth petals in the ingredient list when I created the labels. my apologies.

more about this tea: I was planning on blending this tea a little later in the year – closer to “harvest” but at the time that I was blending this, the weather was a little chillier than it usually is – I’m not complaining! – however, the cooler temperatures inspired me to bring out something with some comforting spices so I decided to bump this blend up to this month. And – even though the temperatures are getting warmer (I liked it better when it was cooler!) this is still mighty tasty. It tastes like my favorite fruit crisps like gramma used to make.

to brew: give the blend a good shake before you measure it to make sure everything is well incorporated. Use 4g of tea to 12oz of very hot water (195°F) & steep for 10 minutes. Strain & allow to cool for at least 5 minutes.

serving suggestion: Like I said in the description above, I like this served hot as a latte – if you’d like to try it that way, I recommend using a little more leaf to concentrate the flavors. The addition of milk will, of course, dilute the flavors a bit so a stronger steeped cup is necessary for a full-flavored drink. For my latte, I used about 6g of leaf to 12oz of very hot water, steeped it for 10 minutes, added some (about 2 oz) warm oat milk (which is totally fabulous in this!) I heated my oat milk in a nifty contraption that I have to make hot chocolate – it lightly froths the milk as it heats it. (It’s not a frother, but I’m sure a frother would work even better!)

It’s also really good if you drink it straight. I also quite enjoyed it when I forgot I brewed it and came back to it about an hour and a half later and it was room temperature at that point. I guess – to put it simply, I really like this drink!
