Ah Teavana… In my experience with Teavana (which is pretty extensive, as I used to work there) they don’t usually sell the best quality teas. Even their “premium quality,” or rather, really ridiculously expensive green and white teas are usually just meh, but I find that this is one that I actually like a lot! Enough so that I purchased a full large tin of it before I left (gotta love that discount.)

This tea has little to no astringency, which makes it really easy to drink. It’s not particularly complex, but falls back on a buttery, nutty taste that would be really great with an acidic or even savory dinner. Immediately when it hits the tongue, I taste grass and hay, followed by a honey-like sweetness. Maybe a barley flavor in there as well? It’s hard to tell.

This tea is really smooth and I think that makes it a great place to start for people who don’t usually like green tea because of the astringency or bitter flavor most Japanese green teas are known for.

I believe this tea has been discontinued, which is a little bit of a shame since I think it was one of Teavana’s gems, but it was quite overpriced (even with the discount.) I haven’t yet drank dragonwell from other vendors, but I’ll be on the lookout for a similar sweet and buttery variety elsewhere.

drank Mint Majesty by Teavana

I recently found this tea in the back of my cupboard while de-stashing and gifting teas to friends and family. I had forgotten all about it, but I’m happy I found it again. I drink minty flavored teas quite often, but I struggle to find blends I enjoy because I’m not a fan of straight peppermint tea. This Mint Magesty has a good blend of mostly spearmint with a little bit of peppermint and lemon.

This is a great morning tea. The minty flavor is light and balances well with the lemon without being overpowering (as I find many peppermint teas are.) Sadly, this has both been discontinued and my local Teavana has gone out of business so I’ll be on the lookout for a replacement once I finish the rest of my tin.

Usually I am not a fan of canned/bottled or pre-packaged brewed teas because they’re usually much too sweet for me. This Arizona Green Tea with Honey and Ginseng has a pleasantly crisp green tea flavor. The citrus carries all the way through and there’s just enough of a hint of ginseng to keep me sipping at this tea. Ginseng is one of my most favorite flavors in tea, and while this Arizona Green Tea is still a bit too sweet for an everyday tea, it’s nice to have every once in a while on hot summer days when I just want a sugary sweet treat.
