I came here to say that this smells like Froot Loops cereal! It is fairly decent for cheap earl grey & nice when you need something decaf. (I don’t know about you, but I don’t tend to keep many decafs around. I need to change that!)

Anyhow, it smells weird but tastes okay, so don’t be frightened by the smell.

I’m really not very familiar with pu-erh’s yet (this is my first one!) but will rate this tea anyway. I realize that most people don’t drink pu-erh made from a tea-bag but this was enjoyable enough. :)

It was smooth…and kind of earthy. I probably won’t buy it again because I want to try a fancy one next time. But I’m definitely going to finish the rest of what I have.

I’ve heard of course that you either love or hate Lapsang Souchong. I should have known that it wouldn’t be my “cup of tea,” but I wanted to try it anyway!

Sometimes friends of my family will make us smoked turkey on Thanksgiving & it makes the refrigerator smell terrible. I don’t like the flavor either. Plus, if you eat it, you get that smoky aftertaste in your mouth. Yuck. Well this tea gives you that same aftertaste.

HOWEVER, I found a way to tame it. I mixed it 50/50 with some English breakfast tea, added a teaspoon of maple syrup & a good splash of milk and this is enjoyable stuff! It’s a bit more astringent than I’m used to, but not a bad thing to wake up to on a cold day. I’ve heard that other types of Lapsang Souchong aren’t so heavy on the smoky flavor..Maybe I’ll look for those next time.

I’m going to try to cook with this one though. That might be interesting.

I really didn’t care for this tea the first time I tried it. I think I got the water temperature too high that time & let it steep for too long, resulting in bitterness.

This time was much better (lower temp & shorter steep). I tried it plain & that was good but then I added a piece of rock sugar & a bit of milk and that was even better. :)

This tea smells amazing and the vanilla flavor is quite interesting. You know how they say books smell a bit like vanilla because of the lignin (similar to vanillin), which is in wood-based paper? The vanilla taste in this tea is kind of similar to that smell, if that makes sense. There is a nuttiness & kind of a woody flavor that is very unique.

The grapefruit flavor doesn’t really stand out to me, but there is a hint of citrus. I tried this again later, cold-brewed & it is very refreshing this way. It tasted very cleaner and brighter and smelled so good!
