7 Tasting Notes
Just tried this blend, as the peppermint is one of my favourites and the spearmint, while it smells lovely, leaves an earthy “grass” taste in my mouth, which I don’t like. Steeped the combination for 4-5 minutes and it still tasted a bit off. Added 1 packet of sugar and its delicious!

Ok, so I got this as a sample in my last two DAVIDsTEA orders and right after reading the ingredient list, I knew I wasn’t going to like it. Cinnamon is one of my least favourite smells/tastes (Gave my boyfriend my Cinnamon Heart Pu’erh tea from my passport collection right away) and I figured that these samples would make their way right into his Christmas stocking.
Fast forward to a few days later (so tonight), and I feel like I want to end the day as I usually do, with a cup of tea or two or three. Not wanting to make the mistake of drinking a black tea right before bed as I did last night, resulting in a 4am bedtime, I decided to try out this sample, as it is caffeine-free.
Holy.Crap. Upon the first dry smelling, this smells EXACTLY like coffee cake! In fact, DAVIDsTEA “Coffee Cake” flavour didn’t smell anywhere NEAR as delicious and coffee cake-like as this does! Steeped for roughly 5-6 minutes (lost count, as I always seem to) and now sipping it, and it tastes exactly as it smells- like coffee cake. Well, coffee cake with a slight pepper kicker, as I can feel the bite of the black pepper on my tongue.
Not only will this NOT be going in my boyfriend’s stocking (well, unless I get more samples of it in the next two orders that are shipping to me) but I will be ordering 50g of this in my next, near future order. This is especially exciting, as I’ve been searching for a rooibos tea to love after being underwhelmed by Birthday Cake and liking Oh Canada, but knowing its too sweet for daily consumption. A little sad that this will be gone in march but that just means I’ll have to stock up! Another delicious winner from DAVIDsTEA!

After a rough day at work, I was thrilled to come home and see that my 50g of Fantasy Island had arrived! Although it was late, I felt that I needed to try this tea, despite the caffeine.
The dry smell is intoxicating…like a raspberry-coconut chocolate or something. I agree with other steepsters that it smells like there is chocolate in this blend, even though there isn’t. Steeped it for 5 mins on the initial steep and oh my god, this is delicious! Definitely a stronger coconut taste than anything else, which is fine because I am a fan of coconut. In fact, its interesting because as Im sipping it, it SMELLS like raspberries and tastes like coconut, so you almost get the entire experience between the two senses.
Decided to resteep this and this time, I steeped for 4 minutes and added a packet of sugar (which I usually don’t do to hot teas). I feel like the sugar brings out the tartness of the raspberry a bit more and is very enjoyable.
Its 12:57am and as Im nearing the end of this cup, I am highly considering a second resteep, which I have NEVER done. I think thats a sure sign that this is love <3

Bought 50g of this for part of my boyfriend’s Christmas present and also bought a tin for it. As I was transferring the tea from pouch to tin, I decided to put a cup’s worth aside so I could try it.
I must say…I’m NOT a fan of the dry smell. Reminds me of Buttershots (the liquer)and I’ve had a negative history with that. Still, I really wanted to try it brewed. The brewed smell was quite pleasant and the taste is actually quite delicious and a dead ringer for maple syrup. I made my family taste it- it’s just that incredible. My father, who isn’t a tea drinker, said that he might like to get into tea just based on this one sip!
So all in all, its a good tea. Not one that I would keep on hand, but thats mainly because I’m not that into extremely sweet, “dessert” teas. However, I know that my boyfriend will love it and that’s all that matters. I would definitely enjoy a cup again though :)

Ok so like 5 minutes after my first few sips, I could instantly feel my head buzzing. This is STRONG! For the first time EVER, I had to add some milk to my tea. I think next time I brew this, I will only use 1/2 scoop of tea (I used a full scoop using the davids perfect spoon, which is at least 1.5 tsp)and I will keep the steeping to a 3-4 min maximum. Still loved the robust flavor though :)
On my first tasting, I accidentally oversteeped this (roughly 7 mins) because I got distracted, so I was very afraid to try this. The result? Delicious! I am a huge fan of strong black teas though, and when I used to drink Twinnings Irish Breakfast sachets, I often left the bags in the tea the entire time, resulting in a stronger tea. YMMV; from the looks of most of these reviews, oversteeping is not a good thing but it works for me :)
