New Tasting Notes
Open infuser with 4.5 grams of tea in a 350 ml mug. Steep 2-3 mins. Milk to taste.
Liquor colour bright orange. Taste – still fresh, slight astringency, good flavour. Not quite the green apple tea aroma it originally had but maturing well. This is a good cup of tea from the factory that consistently gets highest prices on the Mombasa Auction. Well done Gisovu!
This was another tea I had at a friend’s house. It is good loose leaf material, with Ceylon and Chinese green tea in it. Not sure whether ginger goes well with green tea or not, it’s definitely good with black tea. I’ll have to try it again. I know I like this tea, but I’m just not sure quite how much
Very smooth, mild flavour, and no bitterness. Just bought an ounce this afternoon, and I only had time for two brews before viola class. I didn’t pay much attention to either of them, so it’ll probably taste better with a little more care, haha. I usually prefer stronger teas, but this was nice. It feels wonderful in the mouth, and it has such a pretty pale golden colour.
The store I visited had white, jasmine, dragonwell, and oolong in four giant, clear jars. They were labelled generically, and each was at $3.75/oz. It’s a little sketch, must say. I’m pretty sure it’s the ‘Fine White Tea (Bai Hao Yin Zhen)’, though. All buds, but with the stems, so it’s a step lower than Super-Fine.
The dry tea is darker than it looks in the picture. First steep 2 min, light amber liquor with light mouth feel. The scent and flavors are, to my uneducated palate, more like a good Darjeeling than the richer, more floral oolongs I favor. Smooth yet pungent. An enjoyable drink, but not what I buy oolong for. The last half-cup I added milk and stevia, which went well.
