New Tasting Notes
The leaves give off a wonderful citrusy smell, and you get a similar aroma from the brewed tea. The first sip isn’t anything like as strong to the taste, so I was somewhat disappointed to start with, but the flavour really builds as you go along. I liked the end of the cup much better than the beginning.
This is normally one of those things that I only drink if I’m ill and real tea tastes weird, or to experimentally blend wtih other teas. Here is a different sort of tip for you. You know that cocoa powder for making hot cocoa? Just a spoonful in a cup, add boiling water, stir and you’ve got hot cocoa. Make a pot of peppermint herbal and use that to make your hot cocoa instead of regular boiling water. It’s very delicious, like drinking melted After Eight, except without the icky cream
The Red Cross sent me a tea bag. It’s as if they know me really well! I always thought that a Kenyan and Assam blend would be incredible, but I wasn’t as impressed as I was expecting. That said, the assam flavour was very tasty with tastes of berries. A final comment: I didn’t let it brew long and it went very strong, so ifyou drink this, be careful not to over-brew
First morning in Italy, I woke up to this. Very nice, but simple black bend. Composed of Assam, Ceylon, and Kenyan (similar to Twining’s English Breakfast, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vpqffdeetI), this tea has a distinct flowery, toffee flavor. My guest this morning was going to brew the pyramid bags, but then was slightly concerned that I, as the host of Tea Time Tuesday, would be slightly offended, so he brewed loose tea, contrary to the picture here. I enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s important to note that this is essentially Britain’s version of Lipton, but not quite the lowest quality of standard orange pekoe.
Preparation: 5 minutes at 205 F.
Rating: 87% (4 1/3rd of 5 tea leaves)
First of all, this tea does not taste all that great.
HOWEVER, I drink 2 cups a day for a week each month, and it really helps me.
Since I started doing this, my skin is clearer, I have more energy, and my other systems (disgestive, mostly) seem to work better.
It doesn’t taste terrible…it’s spicy. The flavor is like chai and licorice – not my ideal, but definitely bearable due to the benefits.
MY LOG ENTRIES WILL BE VERY SPARSE FOR THE NEXT 3 WEEKS — I’M GOING ON A TRIP! G Now, this cuppa is good, but I like the coconut mango bagged oolong by Stash better. Next cup will be yerba mate or ginkgo, to get me going on chores with an actual functioning brain. Adios!
