New Tasting Notes
Inspecting the leaves this morning I was very confused. They were extremely dry and around the edges was this strange fuzz I’d never seen before. I thought it might be mold. So I rinsed this tea twice before steeping it for about 50 seconds. I think I steeped it too long. It has a very tinny taste. A very subtle sweet floral aroma on the nose, but I don’t taste any of that, as it’s covered by the metallic tongue. Next steep I’ll try for only 30 seconds.
I’m not the biggest fan of brown rice teas. But when I can across this unique sencha/brown rice tossed with matcha blend, I knew I’d instantly enjoy this. Made it a little on the weak side this morning, as I was rushing to get to work as always. I did manage to enjoy my 25 second steep with Brandon in bed tho. Felt like I had been up for hours on my way to work. I’m very particular with what tools I use to steep this tea, so it makes it rather difficult to enjoy it at work. What to drink now…
got some of this from a friend. Steeped 5 minutes to get some color…Very light, not astringent, mild mild mild, even after 5 minutes of steeping. Knowing that tea IS flavored water, this is just flavored water….
I’ll try this one again in the future just to make sure it wasn’t a bad day.
Wow. This one really blew me away, and is immediately in my top two favourite oolongs. Wonderful fragrance that translates into a complex floral/slightly vanilla-like/vaguely milky flavour. The first steeping is great, but the second is even better. Brewed in a zisha pot for approx. four minutes.
