This tea was chosen by Eco-Cha as their premier batch of specialty tea for their tea club members. For their inaugural tea selection, they really knocked it out of the park & have set the bar mighty high for themselves! True to form, this dong ding does everything right! This is a very smooth tea with lingering sweetness. At first, the wet leaves smell like roasted corn with the hint of smoke, but after several more infusions, the leaves smell more like roasted autumn vegetables. The flavors that came through in the initial steeping included dried plum and raisins with a hint of toasted nuts followed by the signature dong ding sweet floral and honey lingering aftertaste. My favorite part about this dong ding is the roasted sugarcane smell and taste. That’s what I’m after when I choose a dong ding. Bravo Eco Cha – if you keep this up, I will be a life time member!

The initial rinse produced a faint marshmallow/sugar flavor while the 1st 30 second steeping brought forth the roast of the tea which offered a generous mouth feel. The wet leaves smelled of sugar and very subtle fresh coconut. No bitterness or astringcy at all. The second steeping produced a roasted sweet potatoe/yam flavor with subtle nutmeg and vanilla spices., followed by honey and floral notes. I was left with a strong heavenly honey stick aftertaste. Sweet & Fragrent.

Initially, I can taste the high roast of the tea, which is immediately warming to the body, like gentle sunshine on the face. Then, a light honey flavor envelopes the mouth which gives way to a soft floral and honey aftertaste. A very relaxed mouth feel with lingering sweetness in the breath. A very soft and subtle tea which offers warmth & relaxtion.

An exceptional yancha in every possible way. As far as ‘Rock’ tea goes, this is the real deal! Very pleasant mouth feel with a strong floral bouquet and lingering honeysuckle and Mellon taste. Slightly floral after taste. A very soft tea – easy drinking all day tea. Divine! This tea has earned itself its own yisha yixing pot for life.

A little bit about my rating scale. I’ve borrowed the following rating scale from another user as it mirrors my sentiments on rating teas. This is really for my own reference to keep track of the ones I’ve tried & the ones I never want to forget.

95-100 Nirvana. Reserving this for once I try many more teas. This is sort of like your last meal (tea) before the electric chair kind of category.

90-94 Just awesome. I’d be happy if I had nothing but this to drink for the rest of my life.

85-89 Excellent. Very top notch stuff. Solid anchor in the cupboard and a staple in the rotation of what I drink.

80-84 Very good. Glad I drank it, probably will drink it again.

75-79 Good. Has something “good” about it making it interesting, but maybe isn’t as well rounded or is missing something to make it better. Something I wouldn’t be disappointed to drink, but nothing I’d go back to if I have something better.

70-74 OK. I’m not spitting it out or dumping the pot, but kind of unhappy about spending some of my limited daily caffeine intake on this and would prefer something else.

Not rating anything below 70. At that point, it’s not worth drinking and definitely not worth taking the time to describe it.
