1629 Tasting Notes
Nice, malty beverage for the morning. Assam is a staple in my cupboard. I had half a mugful of this Yorkshire Tea and about half with skim milk. I added a spoonful of sugar, and voila – delicious tea! It isn’t that strong, which is good. However, I can feel baby moving now as I’m typing this. :) Good tea!
In celebration of the end of snowstorm Nemo, I decided to try this out. I am glad it stopped snowing! We got about 10 inches of snow. Thank you Lady 0f Spaydes for this sample! I used up the whole bag for my husband and I. My sense of smell isn’t that strong this morning, so I couldn’t smell the dry leaf. But I saw bits of cacao perhaps or bits of brown in there. Maybe it was chocolate or some nut? Once steeped (Western style), I could smell the cacao very strongly, which I love so much! The scent reminded me of Tisano’s Cacao Tea (which is also a very delightful tisane!).
Anyhow, this brewed a nice dark amber brown liquid. I added a few spoons of sugar and a nice amount of milk to tame it a bit. I wish I tried it plain, but I’m sure it tastes great without any additives too. I tasted a hint of nuttiness to this, which could be part of the cacao’s inherent taste. I am not sure. I was yearning for creamy choco goodness, and this was perfect! I wanted to gulp this down because it was just so amazingly good, but I savored it instead… sipping slowing. This is a great tea for a wintry day. Overall, I would buy this tea for sure. I am adding this to my growing wishlist.
Preparation
I found this tea sample stuck in my sample box! I decided to try it today. This is my caffeine for the day! I had no idea what it was when I opened it up as it was in Japanese and had 8222 on it. It smelled slightly fruity. I expected a plain sencha tea. After steeping, this smelled more like sencha. I could slightly smell something fruity, but it wasn’t very obvious. The taste is nice and light with a hint of grassiness in sencha. It has a mildly sweet aftertaste, which was nice. There is no astringency in this. This was smooth. Good tea overall, but this isn’t something I would purchase in the future.
Preparation
Thank you! I will give that a try! Is it sour and tangy like real grapefruit? I don’t really love grapefruit because of the sourness.
It’s got a good bit of grapefruit flavor, but I found that the character of the green tea helped it not taste too bitter. Definitely want to sweeten it, though, especially if you’re not a sour flavor-liking person. I personally loved it, because the flavor was so in-your-face. :)
I received this tea in the tea sampler I got from Lupicia. This is definitely a tea that I will buy and drink in the summertime as iced tea! I had this plain today without any additives. I steeped it for one minute but that was mostly to try and reduce the amount of caffeine I am taking in. It is sweet and tastes almost like kiwis and fresh apples! The more I took a sip, the more it reminded me of apples. This is so delicious and I bet it would taste great with some honey or sugar! There was astringency in the back of my throat, which left me feeling a little thirsty! Great tea overall! My tea shopping list is getting larger! I will wait to make any tea purchases until after June :)
Definitely craved this tea today even though it is a black tea. I lightly steeped it and added a lot of milk and some sugar. SO delicious! This is a perfect beverage for this morning as it snowed overnight! I love the spices and how creamy it was.
So glad you enjoyed this and I am so happy to add that I plan on reblending this just for iHeartTeas.com. Reading this review only reinforces my need to recreate this and add it to my permenant collection. Thank you! :)
RachanaC Yes this has to be a permanent part of your collection. This is definitely my favorite or one of my favorite blends that you created!
