Infusion #2 was a bit more flavorful, but honestly I’m not certain that I’m using enough leaves. With the Sugar Caramel Oolong, I found that 1/2 of the normal amount of leaves was plenty, but perhaps that doesn’t hold true with this tea. There is a certain buttery aspect with a hint of something else…but the coconut is mainly in the aroma only.
Infusion #3 I added a pinch of new leaves, let the water getting slightly hotter, and of course, lengthened the steeping time. There is more of a coconut taste to the tea, however, it is still very light. This isn’t necessarily a BAD thing, though. The lightness actually marries nicely with the buttery pouchong. I’ll continue playing with this tea. I’m suspecting that the flavor will be much improved when using the normal amount of leaves.
