125 Tasting Notes
I absolutely love strawberry and strawberry teas. The addition of this tea was a nice surprise; I’m not sure I’d tried a pu-erh tea before this one. Lots of good strawberry aroma, light lingering strawberry flavor. I added sweet cream creamer, so my tea tasted like strawberries and cream. Good strength.
Flavors: Fruity, Strawberry, Vanilla
Preparation
Nice chocolatey, pepperminty aroma, very well-balanced in terms of aroma (neither was overpowering, nor was one stronger than the other). Had a slightly more chocolatey flavor than pepperminty, although the peppermint lingered a bit more. I brewed mine perhaps a bit more strong (5 minutes) than recommended, but there wasn’t a bitter aftertaste (as can sometimes happen when oversteeping). A nice dessert tea that wasn’t too sweet.
Flavors: Chocolate, Peppermint
Preparation
A very bright, fruity tea. No sugar needed; very fruity, an interesting (and good!) combination in which I tasted mostly apple, blueberry, and currant. I was quite pleasantly surprised, since this isn’t a tea I’d have normally tried, but a free sample sometimes leads to pleasant surprises.
Flavors: Apple, Black Currant, Blueberry, Fruity
Preparation
What a beautiful tea, both in terms of aroma and taste. It had a wonderful strong vanilla aroma, and an equally strong vanilla taste (augmented by creamer). I let mine steep for 7+ minutes; there was no bitter aftertaste; very good round flavor. (And I was glad to have a good evening tea option – no caffeine, but I didn’t miss it with this tea.)
Flavors: Vanilla
Preparation
This tea has a FANTASTIC aroma right out of the can: very pepperminty and chocolatey. Much of that aroma disappears (or is at least muted) once brewed; once brewed, the minty and chocolatey taste is not as strong as one might thing. (I suspect I over brewed mine, which might explain this.) Good with vanilla or sweet cream creamer, good strong cup.
Flavors: Chocolate, Creamy, Mint, Peppermint, Sweet, White Chocolate
Preparation
As much as I like the cinnamon chai from Upton Tea, this Fennel Chai is the most interesting smelling and tasting chai I think I’ve ever had. Really interesting aroma that features a deep almost earthy aroma, nice rounded flavor; I steeped mine with boiling water for five minutes and there was no bitter aftertaste. (Added vanilla creamer – delicious.)
Flavors: Cinnamon, Earth
