Sigh. It is moments like these that I really, really wish that Harney and Sons were more readily available here in Canada! I ordered a big batch of their teas from the Harney and Sons website last December, but because of the cost of shipping have not ventured to do so since.

Anyway, this tea! Tokyo by Harney and Sons was the most original taste I have ever enjoyed. I have yet to see it replicated anywhere else. It might be a testament to how good it is that when I finished the canister, I actually kept it around for nigh on 6 months just to be able to smell it. It was amazing! It had a really great tea base — reminded me of a nice steamed sencha — full bodied green — but with a fantastic creamy and nutty sesame flavour. It reminded me a bit of black sesame ice cream with some of the best green tea. I’m pining for it still and it’s been a year! If anyone knows where I can get my hands on some more… Let’s just say you’ll be my new friend.

I think David’s Tea is one of the best Canadian shops. Especially around the holidays — all their gift collections, like the tea advent calendars and ornaments, tea infused hand cream, and wide variety of teas (many of which are so much fun and festive!) make the store quite special. I’m a frequent steepster there – it’s a real thing.

Milk Oolong — my favourite non-green. I can say that, what with my rating being 100%! No, really, this deserves it. Milk Oolong is really rare to find, too.

This is the creamiest, most mouth watering scent I have enjoyed with a dry leaf! And better yet, the flavour matches up perfectly when it is brewed properly – fantastic mouthfeel. I sometimes add a splash of milk to a strong pot or added creaminess (which it doesn’t really need, really, but enhances it a bit). It’s a bit pricey, but it’s something I do not mind paying for as a treat. And hey, the holidays are coming up — and you can bet Milk Oolong is on my list.

This is what a morning cuppa should be. I actually crave it in the morning! So malty (which is one reason why I prefer this to PG Tips — there is a bit of a maltiness and less of an astringency that I like). Note: This is coming from someone who is more of a green tea drinker – I’m not a big black tea person. I’ve been picking it up in the English import section of my supermarket and I really like it for those busy mornings.

Firstly — incredibly cute packaging! I love opening my cupboard to see a sweet little wintry penguin!

But on to the tea itself… This would be a hit if you are the type of person who likes chocolate cake. It is rich without being sugary, and it definitely has the smooth and creamy texture of a black forest cake. It isn’t too rich that you feel sickly, yet it satisfies your sweet tooth. I am not often a fan of “dessert” style teas, but this one is smooth and comforting. Perfect for a snuggly night on the sofa!

This is by leaps and bounds the best green tea (or tea for that matter!) that I have ever had. Fukamushi deep-steamed sencha is absent of bitterness, and this tea has a deep taste of sencha (and the aroma of a good matcha) . Not to mention, what makes it most unique, is that it has a very notable body and “creaminess” to it that you would not find in a green tea. It is incredibly satisfying. Wow. I’ve still yet to find a tea to surpass this. I would recommend it to any avid fans of Japanese sencha.

This is a really delicious tea! It’s a nice, light black tea with a very delicate peach and champagne taste to it. It is a very refined and quintessentially summer tea! I could definitely see this being enjoyed iced, too, on a patio in the hot Summer afternoon. I love how mild the peach is, and the body itself is nothing too robust. Very likely the most refreshing black I’ve had before.
